i didn't want to hijack the other thread about driving records, so i just made my own...last night a guy ran a stop sign about 10 feet in front of me and i T-boned him at about 30mph...second car in the last 5 months...i'm having the worst luck, cause as somebody mentioned in the other thread "drive like a little old lady" i'm not wreckless and this happened...

My question is just this what is the worst luck, bad karma, or streak of devilish intervention that you've ever had? Or if have you ever been in a good humdinger of a wreck?

*hug* I'm just glad you're okay!

My worst wreck was the day before I moved to college. I was delivering flyers for my step dad's buisness, and as I was pulling out of one street, a guy comes flying over the hill and straight into the side of my car. Totalled the car, but thankfully neither of us in the car was hurt worse than some pretty colourful seatbelt bruises.

The next day my parents put me in my Mum's car and made me drive the 40 minutes to campus by myself.

At least you're OK! Don't start buying rabbits's feet and crash helmets just yet as that sorta stuff seems to happen to everybody (even the really cool people ;) ) As a matter of fact, my brother, while driving his Acura, was t-boned (huh huh I said..........sorry to much Beavis and Butthead) by a Lincon TownCar, E.G. fourteen tons of heavy duty Detroit Iron. He was OK as you and ailerongirl are OK. That is all that's important.

Ailerongirl, sorry to hear they made you go solo after that accident. That wasn't very sporting of em :)

In their minds, since I was pretty shaken up, it was a 'get back on the horse now' kind of thing. Saying that though, I know I didn't do more than 45 in the slow lane most of the way to campus!

:D

I suppose mum's Jaguar had to do untill that Beemer your parents gave you for a graduation present got out of the shop?

I hear ya...I had a deprived childhood myself. When I was growing up, my parent's mansion had TWO kitchens...I never knew where my next meal was coming from!

Actually, Mum's car was a Land Rover, and I got the Jag as a gradutaion present......
:) I was just joshing you...good comeback though!:DThe main thing is that you weren't injured.

Back in 1990 I was hit head-on on my motorcycle. It was a pretty bad wreck. I was doing around 35 MPH and the car was doing around 25 MPH. I was heading to the airport and I forgot my sunglasses, so I made a U-turn and not wanting to miss my scheduled flight sped through an intersection. I was doing about 50 MPH in a 25 zone and the car made a left turn just as I entered the intersection. I hit the car and flew over the car about 15 feet in the air. My first thought was " I don't remember getting in an airplane, so why am I flying?"

I quickly realized that I'm not in an airplane and braced for the impact with the ground. Long story short, I walked into the hospital under my own power and the doctor looked at my crushed helmet and said I was lucky to be alive let alone be walking.

My second worst accident also happened in the city while I was driving my tractor trailer. A 1978 Lincoln Continental ran the red light and hit my tractor just passed my door. The impact almost turned me over because I had a short trailer which is one of those sea going shipping containers which was empty.

The driver was an 84 year old man who died after a month in a comma as a result of the accident. It sucks knowing that I killed someone but the one thing that makes me understand it is that I probably saved someone elses life by being there at the time he ran the light. It was determined from witnesses that the driver was doing around 60 MPH and didn't even touch his brakes.

This accident happened in 1998 and to put it into perspective, the tractor trailer was totalled. The front of the all metal 78 lincoln was pushed all the way up to his windshield and the engine literally was sitting in the front seat. I never would have thought that the impact would hurt me as much as it did being that I was in a large truck. But it hurt like hell, and I'm here to talk about it

ok, so to follow up...

he had Liberty Mutual, liability insurance...24hr claim service is advertised...well my A$$!!! I tried calling to get an appraiser to look at the car asap, but no dice...oh well...guess i wait till tomorrow...and untill then i'm stuck on my ass with the car in the impound cause it wasn't driveable, so i'll be getting alot of exercise for a while...

24 hour claim service means that you can schedule the time that the adjuster doesn't show up at, anytime day or not. Ain't it grand.

*bitter after waiting several hours for a claims adjuster during an old accident*

So here I am last month, fat and happy after a large lunch and a great stage check flight. I pull into the 4 way stop intersection doin 25( Grandma style, the po po don't like CA plates here).
BAM!!! Grandma moses slams into my brand new car!
FIRST NEW CAR IN MY FAMILY'S HISTORY!
I get out and walk away from the car, still running and dont even look into the other car, too scared, and there's some local offduty cop lookin guy running up anyway...

Now I'm driving some piece of S@@@ rental because im not 21 or 25....

I get this call the other say, my cars been in the shop for a month, after a 2 week delay to get it in there. "Ya we went out f buisness...." Guy leaves my car unlocked for 3 days in a bad art of town....

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!
ps. Whilst this was going on i couldnt fly because of bad WX
