SH gets a no confidence vote what does this mean, anything other than hes not liked and we wrote it down?

This makes me embarrassed to be part of the Union. This is by far the dumbest thing I've seen our Union do. I'm not a big fan of Scott, but this is just unprofessional. He's a Chief Pilot for cryin' out loud. He DOESN'T SIT ON THE BOARD.

Big mistake....the ASA MEC does not support the resolution...Having a hard time getting the supporters of this resolution to come forward with facts to back up their resolution....

Scott Hall does some things that might make some people unhappy. Scott Hall is a middle man from Charlie and does what he says to do. Most people don't know this. Scott is actually a very good person and will listen to you if you give him the chance. He has done many favors for me personaly and I respect him for that.
It is too bad that most people just don't get what a real chain of command is.

What the heck is ALPA doing. Scott H. has done a lot for us and is better than what we had. I don't get it. Do you all want Drew back?

Why is ALPA doing this?

Be carefull what you wish for gentleman!

Dumb Move!

Keep in mind this resolution was brought forward by a pilot on his own accord, not any of the members of the MEC or LEC... by ALPA policy this must be voted on and it passed by the pilots in attendance...

Did I miss something like say an email from our union saying this????
At least he answers your questions honestly which is more than I can ever say about our mec.

You are correct....and my understanding is the MEC members don't agree with the resolution....Nothing prevents the MEC from speaking out against it however? Maybe they should speak out against it and take a leadership role.....

We have bigger fish to fry than coming out against someone who is better than anyone we have ever had in this position.....

This is brought about because one or two pilots think Mr. H is responsible (erroneously) for poor schedules and/or too many 4 day trips at ASA. Schedules are what they are due to the flying Delta hands us, as well as the diluted mixure of DCI carriers and aircrafts. Would it be nice to have all 3 on 4 off schedules, sure. Is it feasable, no. But, SH is not at fault for this, and he does not make schedules or set parameters for them in crew planning. He even has invited those critical of the process time to observe or help in the line making with full pay protection. Lets see if they step up and put their money where their mouths are!

SH is one of the only people I have come across in this company that will return your call or email, and fairly handle your concern right away.

This is absurd.

I agree 79%, these people are so out of touch with how an airline operates and have no idea the complexity involved with the way DAL schedules their DCI flying. They'll just rant and rave to make themselves feel better.

Since there really is no information coming from the Union or Company about this. Is what 79% said correct? One or two pilots put this up and it somehow passes? How many pilots were at this meeting that voted on this thing? Was it a coordinated thing by a group of people? More importantly, what is the take on this from Bard's perspective?

I'd really hate to see the management/pilot relationship that has seemed to be going in the right direction get torpedoed by this.

Couldn't agree more. I feel like I'm in High School again. Somebody needs to grow up before putting this kind of BULL$hit out there.

I was not at that meeting, but if it's like a typical LEC meeting about 10 show up on average. A bit more if something important is going on (like contract negotiations), and a bit less if nothing is really happening.

All it takes is the maker of the resolution to bring 4 or 5 of his friends that will vote for it, and unless there's an unusually large turnout that day it will probably pass.

I have to say, if the pilot group disagrees with this resolution they're a victim of their own apathy. How many people complaining had the day off and chose not to come to the LEC meeting?

Is this ASAinfo.com? Are we supposed to assume every post is about ASA until it says otherwise?

What kind of asinine comment is that???? It is a PUBLIC message forum, anyone can post anything they want. There happens to be a lot of ASA people that frequent this board. Nobody says you have to spend one second of your day reading any posts, let alone one started about ASA.....But you even take it a step farther - AND REPLY TO IT!

Go read something else if it bothers you.

There isn't a single good outcome for this. What's the point? Just a bunch of whiners that don't have a contract to bitch about anymore, so now there comes a new issue and redirection of anger.

The pilots in attendance put the motion on the floor, but who then votes on this? Is it the LEC or the MEC or the pilots in the room or who????

Perhaps some thought should have been spent with this rather than just a 1hr. ALPA meeting. At least float the idea out to the pilot group so more people show up at the next meeting to vote.

I thank the MEC/LEC/CNC for their efforts regarding the contract, but this has me scratching my head and saying WTF to myself.....

This is just STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID!

Yes, he has from time to time supported/informed us of policies that don't exactly thrill me. However, to publicly put forth a 'vote of no confidence' for no apparent reason is inexplicable using 'grown up' logic. WTF, over?

Is there any more background to this available?

Also, why did this have to be published in the newsletter? Was this a draft newsletter from last summer that was never published?

He's doing his job, that is, to support the ongoing business interests of ASA, Inc., a subsidiary of Sky West. If he stops doing his job, and ASA tanks (not that he gets 100% credit for keeping the airline in business), then where will we be? Still putting forth garbage 'no-confidence' resolutions?

I feel like I'm teaching ALPA 101 here. A pilot made the resolution, and then the pilots in attendance at the meeting (not any LEC officers) voted in favor of the resolution. As I said before, due to the pathetically poor turnout at most LEC meetings, pretty much any resolution can get passed if you bring a few of your friends in support of it.

Perhaps you should have gone to the meeting yourself if you cared so strongly about the outcome. Decisions are made by those that show up...

I thinks you are teaching and everyone is deaf

folks, go to the ASA ALPA webboard and you will see who this is that put this forth. He is not speaking for all of us.

Like Swept said, go to the meeting if your this outraged over something you have no clue about.

He may be trying to speak for all of us, but he doesnt.

Also, Scott H. knows this person has a grudge, and I doubt he will take it personally as long as the MEC does not support it.

Hey man.. some things should not be broadcast on a public forum.. you need to keep these private moments to yourself.. thank you

Hey man back, I said he has done many favors for me, I didn't say what he did. I didn't post anything in there that he wouldn't have done for you or any other ASA pilot.
Laughing, some of you guys need to get a grip.

I'm not suggesting to not post about ASA, only that if you throw in an "at ASA" quote from time to time it makes it easier to read. It's good to know what's going on at other airlines, but when the thread doesn't mention what airline it is, it's frustrating.

That assumes one knew ahead of time about this resolution and was able to attend the meeting.

You missed the point of his post completely.

You = Jake Gyllenhaal.
SH = Heath Ledger.

Get it?
