If a plane waterskies up a river at the same speed as the river flows, will he actually take off?

I'm moving to Alaska and gett'n a Cub

Yes, I now have the late winter urge to dump my fiance' and go live in the outback of Alaska and land a Cub on a riverbank.
Or I could buy the video and not risk my life doing crazy things like that.
