Alaska Airlines MEC is considering going from a base/status representation system where there is one rep per status per base (SEA/FO Rep) to a seniority block representation system.

Anyone with experience in both have any opinions one way or the other.

Thanks

no experience with that but it sounds like a good way to divide the pilot group

Compass uses it and it seems to work well for our niche. I was initially concerned that the larger base would stack the reps, but it didn't turn out that way. For us it's cheaper and base closures and openings don't affect representation.

FedEx, Hawaiian, and Compass all use this system. Seems to work much better than the traditional system, and it eliminates the ridiculous problems that crop up with roll call voting, since each block rep represents the same number of pilots.
