Semper Fi Lt. Col. Oliver North

Posted By: Another United States Marine

Remember this?

It was 1987! At a lecture the other day they were playing an old news video
of Lt.Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the
Reagan Administration.

There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree, but
what he said was stunning!

He was being drilled by a senator; "Did you not recently spend close to
$60,000 for a home security system?"

Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."

The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience, "Isn't
that just a little excessive?"

"No, sir," continued Ollie.

"No? And why not?" the senator asked.

"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir."

"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.

"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.

"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"

"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce
it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people
laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued. Why are you so afraid of
this man?" the senator asked.

"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of", Ollie
answered.

"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator.

"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be
formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth."

The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of
the clip.

By the way, that senator was

Also:
Terrorist pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The Israelis
captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the
Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called "political
prisoners."

However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands, The
American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State,
Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released.

Thus Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an
airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by many
of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first
identified. It was censored in the US from all later reports.

If you agree that the American public must be made aware of this fact, pass
this on.

Treason.

In every sense of the word.

Bush is sweeping up eight years of clinton defacating on this nation in an attempt to build a legacy. He will have one.

This was just an urban legend proved to be false. This did not happen. Although, it makes an interesting story.

Looks like ol' Ollie broke his shift key....

Actually, it did happen, except the terrorist named was not OBL. He was actually referring to another one. (Can't remember who though)

Abu Nidal. Remember it like it was yesterday. Loved the show, but saddened by Sen. Innoye. (or however you spell it)

True hero of WWII but carrying water for the Demo party because he was the only war hero on their side at the time. Obviously Ted Kennedy couldn't touch Lt Col. North and they knew it.

Col North is a true patriot. One of the few people I'd go out of my way to meet and shake their hand.

North is anything BUT patriotic, unless you equate patriotism with arming and training the murderous Contras, obstructing justice, lying, and then going on national crusade to assuage his guilt by calling himself a role model.

North is anything BUT patriotic

I agree. Oliver North is no patriot. He lied under oath (while in full uniform) to save his ass. Not behavior befitting a U.S. Marine. He should have went to jail.

He did, didn't he?

And what was the name of that chica that worked for him? Didn't she get prosecuted too?

Interesting thread but what does this have to do with aviation?
If you're interested, then why do you care? that's why they call this board category "general".

Well Robert Hass (sp?) was shot down flying a cargo plane with supplies for the Contra's, Nicaragua's FREEDOM FIGHTERS!! You libs on the board can stow that commie sh*t!! When the people were allowed free elections (supervised by Mr. Peanut) Ol' Daniel Ortega and his brutal regime were shown the door- la puerta. And, not just once but twice!! So the regime that murdered it's own citizens (the peace loving Mesquite Indians for example) and received such applause from gutless, coward, Commie Liberals like Ed Asner, Ted Kennedy, et al, went to the dust bin of history when the people were given free elections. Score another victory for the conservatives!! Now back to my cigar!

Uhhhhhh, wil, Robert Hass is the Poet Laureate of the United States. Eugene Hasenfus was the guy captured by the Sandinistas, and he wasn't flying, he was the cargo kicker. May we assume that the rest of your post is equally accurate?

Hey, Flywithastick...

that's why they call this board category "general".
Check this out.... "General
General aviation related discussion that doesn't fall into a sub-category below" Does that makes sense to you, or do you want me to type slower?

Well, been posting here for a while. Since when does this category consist of only aviation topics? Looks like about 6 on the front page not specifically aviation related.

Besides, who made you the board police? Let ME type slowly for you... k i s s m y a # # ! :)

Has anybody seen the HBO movie "Doublecrossed"?

It is a True story of Barry Seal a drug running pilot turn informant.

Long story short, Barry seal turns informant for the DEA and get put in the witness protection program becuase of some big fish he was able to bring in for the DEA.

In the movie Ollie North is head of some office in Washington, I'm not sure which one and he finds out about Barry Seal about to turn in a big ring leader and breaks it to the press before the deal is done. Anyway it gets Barry Seal killed for it becuase of Ollie wanting the peice of the catch.

The movie was still for rent at Blockbuster a few years ago, also some good flying seens in it.

Its a pretty good movie.

The story I always heard was that some photos from Seals' plane were released to the press, and he was whacked about 4 hours later at the YMCA in Lafayette, LA. Was that what they showed in the movie?

Ok A Squared I got the guys name wrong. The rest is in the history books (those that have not been altered to the lib view!). The Sandanistas lost twice in their bid to regain power. Where were the liberals then? Obviously, Ronaldus Maximus was correct!!

Yes, that is what was depicted in the movie, it all stemed from Ollie.

In the movie they show Ollie going over the pics and for some reason he was going public with them. I think several people tried to stop him but he did it anyway.

Hey Kingair thanks, I'll check it out.
