I've noticed their is lots of "hate" coming from those ASA pilots. I don't know if its the fact that they fly for an airline where the pax have to walk outside and hunt for their airplane or the fact that some of them know they will be F/O longer than at eagle on the ATR. But I think it has to do with the fact that they know in their heart that what ALPA is asking for is just foolish and they don't want to admit that maybe just maybe managment has a point to try and lower the wages and try and undercut airlines like comair and chq for some more flying. I've made the observation before, who is more foolish someone who went to mesa in 2000 and who has since upgraded, got his pic and is now at CAL or someone who got hired in 2000 and is still an f/0, and who will just now be able to hold captain on the (puke!) ATR.
The problem I see with the whole "Improve the QOL and Pay" that people whine for is that it only serves to hold people at ASA who SHOULDN'T be at asa and making it thier career airline. ASA is a "Dues Paying Airline" a place where you go just to get above the 1000 hour mark get your atp and some pic and then go to a career airline. The problem at ASA is you have captains on the CRJ-700 who have been there since the 80's! These people should have left 10+ years ago but have just stayed there. Now that the company wants to bring wages to what they should be for a such a small and simple airplane they are going crazy (Keep in mind the crj-200 and 700 are a common type). They know they will be screwed because they made the BAD choice of staying at a commuter airline reserved for the "Freight Dawgs" and other Newbies to make an entry in this profession.
I know I'd rather be an F/0 at Usair than a captain at ASA and anyone with a brain would dp the same thing. Heck i'd rather be a gate agent at valujet aka airtran than be a captain at ASA on one of their unsafe ATRs.
