I've been out of flying for a while and came across a CE-210 owner who needs a part time pilot for day trips.

I'm available and figured it would be a good way to get current again on his bill.

We haven't discussed rates yet and to be quite honest I'm not in it for the money but need to quote him a reasonable day-rate. My main concern is not to under-charge him.

What seems to be the daily rate for SEL equipment? Most flying will be in the Washington, D.C. area.

I appreciate the input.

I was charging $200 per day for the 210 back in 2001.

FWIW- After a few months, the owner decided to put me on his company's payroll. We were on a set schedule flying one day a week (Monday) and I was paid $36K/yr + bennies. That worked out to $750 per day!

If he hadn't sold the company, I'd still gladly be flying for him on the side.:)

Sweet deal!

Thanks for the input. Goes to show, you just never know where these little jobs will lead.

I charge $300/day in a Cessna 182 and Piper Saratoga in the Atlanta area.

U

$525/day -SR22 (Cirrus) & Columbia 300/350
$600/day - Columbia 400

Plus expenses.

Located in SE USA but travel nationwide.

Guy on the West coast gets $1,000/day!!!

SEL Rates

I get $600 a day for Cirrus instruction plus expenses. Probably could get more if I charged it.
