Something I just found that might be helpful and avoid the "Post Envy" debockle: At the top right of the page below the "Tell a Friend" link is a link called "view new posts." No need to surf the sections to get to the meaty stuff.
I still think you might consider a Message Icon depicting content. [the ones just below subject] You are getting very little use from them now.
Also, you have to be signed in and on the home page.
