So in the next 6 months I will be putting out my applications to some different regionals. My questions is is it at all possible to maintain a second job for supplemental income during my first few years? Please answer the question and not bash me for wanting to fly airplanes or go to some regional. Thanks.

I actually thought this thread was going to be a topic about having a job and having your second job being an FO somewhere. That would make more sense.

Back when I was sitting reserve, they had a glut of them and I didn't fly much... probably could've had a business / work from home situation going on. Now I typically get 15-16 days off/mo, so I could probably now, if I weren't lazy... get a second job. Its all about finding something that meshes well with your schedule at your airline and what your financial needs are.

Personally I've spent a lot of my "free" time learning about and trying out investing, and it is working out very well so far.

loan closings

Get your notary and do loan closings for real estate title companies on your off days. 70-100 bucks a pop depending on type and state.

I agree. I have my life insurance license and am taking the securities tests next week. I have already made a little with the life license and with going back to the airlines soon I will actually have some days off to use the licenses now... (did I mention 135 SUX for days off)

In fact, most guys I know have some other type of business on the side. I think the proper attitude is to make the airline job secondary; focus on something that pays better.
