Today at Sun N' Fun I watched Sean Tucker roll and loop a brand new off the line Colombia 400. I watched him strap on a parachute and hop in the 400 and knew something was up. It was pretty cool to see a General Aviation A/C that is not certified for such maneuvers, do such a thing. I always figured from flying the Cirrus that with the roll rate these things have that it would do it no problem. I guess that is what he'll be doing until he can get his backup plane air show ready.

Today was also the first civilian debut of the F-22 Raptor and I gotta say I was very impressed. Very cool airplane. Guess all that alien technology is starting to pay off!

How did he legally loop and roll it if its not certified for it?

Any clips of the F-22? I wish I could have seen that.

The announcer said that he had some sort of airshow waiver to be able to do it. And no unfortunately I do not have any video. I did get about 60 really good digital stills. The legacy flight was really cool, it was a P-51 (Crazy Horse), an F-15 and the F-22. Got a bunch of that one too. That F-22 was a show stopper though. They sent two of them down here, and were by far the star of the show.

aw man i wish i was there. Who gets to fly the F-22s as of right now anyway? are they all F-15 guys moved up to the 22 or do new guys out of UPT get to fly it as well.

I'm sure their flown by well experienced Eagle drivers. I kinda doubt theyd let newbies fly that ridiculously expensive airplane.

Regardless, there are more navy divers looking for pilots, than pilots looking for divers. In addition, I bet Carl Brashear would kick your ass in a spelling bee, wooden leg and all.

Ya got me. Now I'm gonna go cry myself to sleep now that I've been bullied on the internet for no discernible reason.

It's not discernation, if a black master diver with one leg, can kick your ass in a spelling bee.

Well it looks like I'm already in a spelling bee contest, though I didn't even notice. If you wanna discuss aviation on an aviation message board, go ahead, but if you got a problem with me or my spelling you can go ahead and PM me.

If I PM you, will you be their?

You must be pretty bored, huh?
Not really. 20 years ago, I saw video of the F-22 beating the crap out of a runway, now you're determining that only eagle guys are good enough to fly it.

Meanwhile, Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit Two sits waiting...

I never said only eagle guys are good enough to fly the F-22. The point of my post is that far as I know currently only F-15 pilots are being put into the F-22s, and I was saying they probably have quite a bit of experience under their belts.

I can dig it.

You've really got me stumped, FN. I have no idea why you seem to have an obsession with Navy divers.

Men of Honor was a good flick though.

Not only was it a great flick, but I personally met Carl Brashear, the black master diver featured in that film. In addition, another master diver that I worked with in the navy had three cameo appearances in that movie and was a technical advisor to the producers. His name was Richard Radecki...the "rag man".

Both of which will kick your ass in a spelling bee.

In case you're wondering, it's not your spelling that ticks me off. It's that after 20 years of watching the F-22 project on television, it finally becomes an "airshow" recruiting poster child.

Good thing we didn't need it 15 years ago to actually do something.

I need to see that! Ok , let's call a student to see if he wants to do a XC to LAL, Eheheh...I'm sure I'll find one!

They'll have new UPT grads very soon. The Squadron Commanders love young guys who can be molded into images of themselves. And someone has to run the snack bar.

Common sense would say restrict the F-22 pilot force to senior Captains and Majors with over 1000 fighter hours.

But we're talking Air Force fighter pilots, not common sense.

We got an airshow almost daily from the F-22 flying out of FTY... "Flight of two Raptor's.. yadda yadda.." always a raptor and a chase f-16... I've got some video.. somewhere..

speling be's rawk!

Don't be so hard of FN FAL for the spelling. English as a second language can be tough. Read this--it's amazing.
