I did a combined SE land & sea ATP as a way of revalidating my US ATP I'd gained years ago but never used. I already ATPLs from UK & Australia so my original US ATP was done as a conversion. Coming from overseas I had never held a US PPL or CPL & had no familiarity with the US specific CPL (& PVT?) manouevres eg figure 8s, turns around a point etc. Doing another ATP checkride wasn't much different to just another instrument rating renewal test** I'd been doing for the last 20 years.

The SE ATP checkride was done in an amphib so the addition of landings on both mediums meant I met both land & sea licences.

I don't think there is a specific 'add on' section in the ATP PTS, unlike PPL & CPL PTS'?

**UK & Oz require a yearly checkride to renew an instrument rating. The rating only lasts one year & then it lapses until renewed.
