Any SWA guys have a take on him. Wasn't he the guy responsable for the successful fuel hedging program?

Any SWA guys have a take on him. Wasn't he the guy responsable for the successful fuel hedging program?

Yes, it help propel him to a Vice President position.

Scott Topping, vice president and treasurer at Southwest Airlines, is moving to Hawaiian Holdings Inc. and Hawaiian Airlines Inc. as their chief financial officer, executive vice president and treasurer.

Topping had worked 16½ years at Southwest Airlines, with fuel hedging among the many duties that fell in his area.

Hawaiian said Topping will take over his new duties Nov. 1. The current CFO, Peter Ingram, becomes chief commercial officer on that date.

"Peter's move to focus on the revenue side of our business leaves large shoes to fill in finance and we are fortunate to have attracted Scott, a respected and accomplished leader in our industry, to guide our finance strategy and management through this exciting new era of growth for Hawaiian," Hawaiian president and CEO Mark Dunkerley said.

"Scott's experience as a leader in the strategic growth of one of the largest and most consistently successful airlines in the U.S. will be a strong addition to our senior team," Dunkerley said.

Hmmmm, let me see, successful fuel hedging, with SWA the only company with any credit or cash during the 2005/6 period and oil going up every quarter, I think a monkey could have put together a "successful" fuel hedging program.

Hedging is expensive and risky, unless oil rises at least 5% your losing. Having the nads (CEO/CFO) to ok the hedging is the brilliance. Best of luck to him at HAL.

What Gup said. If this guy was truly the architect of our vaunted fuel hedging program (which worked great right up until it didn't), I'm surprised he didn't make a "...to spend more time with my family..." departure from SWA years ago.
