NewGuy

For all of you guys that are professional pilots, can you give me an example of your typical monthly schedules? I want to know what all kind of schedules are out there. Please include as many details as you can. I'm new to aviation and I'm trying to get a taste of what it would be like to be a pro pilot. Thank you.

it depends....

It depends a lot on your seniority. With seniority you have choices of the best schedules. I'm a pretty senior F/O and I work about 10 days out of 28 or less. Those days (nights) start at around 9pm and end at 5am. Often you will do that four or five nights in a row and have the weekend, the next week, and the following weekend off. Without seniority, you would be stuck on reserve in Louisville and away from home (unless you live there) about 16 days out of 28. Reserve can be a good deal if you live in domicle and they don't work you too hard.

My schedule

This is my March schedule:

I do two-day trips, Tue-Wed, Thurs-Fri.

Tuesday: Report 0945
SLC-RAP overnight in Rapid City
Wednesday:
RAP-SLC
SLC-MCI
MCI-SLC
off at 1423

Thursday: Report 0716
SLC-BOI
BOI-SLC
SLC-SBA overnight in Santa Barbara
Friday:
SBA-SLC
SCL-PHX
PHX-SLC
off at 1408

That repeats every week.

Last month's schedule was really nice:
Sunday report at 1800
SLC-COS
Monday:
COS-DFW
DFW-TLH
TLH-DFW
DFW-OKC
Tuesday:
OKC-DFW
DFW-ICT
ICT-DFW
DFW-SLC
off at 2250

Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat off.

You must have a good number. That's a really nice schedule, to some nice places.

Are any of those standup overnights?

Good BBQ in OKC and its environs, by the way.

I am senior enough to hold Europe trips, but bid reserve since I have outside financial interests. Being the senior reserve I am the last to fly.

In the past 120 days I have only flown 23 hours. (Part was sick leave) for full pay. I am still on call, but chances of being used are slim.

Now the junior reserves usually fly everyday of their liability.

Here is my schedule every week of the year. Monday night depart ATW at 8:15pm arrive MKE at 9:05pm. Depart MKE at 6:15am arrive GRB at 7:00am depart GRB 7:10am arrive ATW at 7:20am. Do that until Saturday morning when I get back to Appleton and have the whole weekend to do whatever I want. Same schedule every week except for holidays when I don't have to work. Sure can't beat that.

My March Schedule, every Friday

For a commuter this is great, except for working weekends.

I'm sure you can figure it out. I do each paring twice for a total 16 work days for the month.
