SAVE CONCORDE GROUP HIT TARGET!

Following a very successful weekend at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, the Group smashed through their first major target of 10,000 signatories on a petition. Chairman Ross Mallett commented 'This is a real boost for us - sometimes it is easy to lose sight of the fact that we ARE making progress. The support out there is world-wide and we have a number of international members. The support runs from individuals to large groups and companies, and our thanks go to all involved so far, and especially to all those who have helped us so far with their sponsorship and donations. The level of feeling over Concorde's retirement has not died and the potential for hundreds of thousands of people getting involved still remains. We aim to continue to raise our profile over the coming weeks and urge all those who know of us to mention us to everyone else that they know.' For further information please contact us

it was my dream to fly one of those...
I saw only one at JFK a few years back before the crash

to this day one dream of mine i have to do before i die is fly faster then sound. :)

I did it

I flew on the Concorde in Oct 2003, one of the last flights. I flew round trip between JFK and LHR.

Once in a lifetime, nothing will ever be that good ever again!

They also gave me a bonus of 250,000 BA freq flyer miles.

What a great trip that was .. I just bought a plane and it still doesn't match the thrill of that flight!

On friday morning our pilots were having a friendly chat on the chit chat freqency about the "speed bird" call sign. They had heard it not to long ago over on a Chicago Center frequency.

One of the experts was saying that "speedbird" was only for the Concorde and then one of the other experts was saying that "speedbird" was an airline callsign for all that airline's aircraft.

Anybody know what is the deal with "speedbird"?

wow that would have been amazing. And also the frequent flyer bonus isnt too shabby either..

how much did a ticket on the concord usually cost? I heard about 10k?

"Speedbird" is the callsign for all British Airways flights. I believe the Concorde flights used "Speedbird Concorde" but I'm not for sure.

$13k to be exact.

Speedbird is for all BA flights (to the previous poster).

If I had to buy freq flyer miles, 250k miles would cost me over $10k, so I got my money's worth not to mention all the gifts they gave me are selling for hunderds of dollars on fleabay.

I haven't read all the posts in this thread so it may have already been answered but "Speedbird" is the callsign for British Airways. Aircraft type plays no role at all.

Thanks to all the "speedbird" replies! They were beating up one of the guys for saying the same thing. Seems the other know it alls couldn't separate the "speedbird" from the speed bird.

The official callsign is "Speedbird" for all flights, although most Concorde flights would say "Speedbird Concorde".

Guess they just didn't want anyone thinking they were ordinary BA pilots flying a 744! :D

Fight For Flight....concorde

I have flown on Concorde ten times. I consider myself a very fortunate person.

I represent many thousands of people in the UK who are striving to keep one Concorde airworthy so future generations will have the oppurtunity to see this most beautiful aircraft in flight. The other alternative is to allow her to rot.

I prefer the first option.

Come over and join the fight !
