Hey guys,

How hard is it to get from the airport in Savannah to the downtown tourist part of town where theres stuff to do. Is it worth it? Just looking for a 500 dollar hamburger thats all.

Go to Hilton Head unless you know someone in SAV.

"SAV kinda sucks because there's no where to park free, its park at signature and pay landing fee or 10gals of 4$ gas..."

I second that. One time we went over to that flight school and parked and it didn't take them long to come over and collect. Better add an extra 100 buck to that $500 burger.

SAV used to be one of the destinations for doing Instrument X-Cs from DCA (CAA) from Sanford, FL. We had a gas account there and they usually let us use a crew car for about 2 hours to drive to the downtown/riverfront area. Great food and shopping...candy, too!

I'm not sure about Hilton Head, but if they have a crew car, you can pay a couple bucks for admittance to Harbor Town on the SW side of the island. Lots of shops/restaurants around there. SSI, St. Simonds Island is nearby and I hear it's nice, too.

Have fun!

Downtown historic SAV is a must. I had to pay for a van service (taxi) to/and from the hotel and stayed at the Days Inn, they give an airline discount. Not the nicest hotel but reasonable and definately centraly located. I tried to stay at the Hampton Inn (looked fanastic) but was full. Have fun I know I did.

Check out KSSI,,,, very reasonable fuel prices

The crew car is an old chevy truck, but they do have rential cars during the week for around 25.00 bucks, per day.

While there check out the sand trap , it is locatied down by the beach, food is good,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Be sure to look for the headstones at the runway intersections while landing. Not headstones more tablets, for the original owners of the airport property.
