Does anyone have info (good/bad) on Aramco? A buddy of mine has shown interest and is looking for any kind of info. I've noticed in the past that resumes go to Houston, what positions are available in the U.S. and/or SA? Do you have a choice? Also what type of experience is preferred. I know they fly some heavy iron, but smaller as well.

Any kind of answers will be greatly appreciated and forwarded to him.

Thanks in advance.

I know very little about the fixed wing side of their operation. To my knowledge all the flying is in the Middle East, with all hiring for the US through Houston. The hangars are full of everything, a very diverse fleet, helicopters to heavy iron.

I know that is not much help.

I appreciate it....more info than I've gotten so far. Thanks!

Interviews are in Houston. I interviewed in the mid-90s, weak economy, and oil was low they didn't hire as many as expected. It was a 2 day, all expenses paid. They want your wife or significant other there.

LazyB, are you an ex-Aramcon or Aramco Brat? I lived in the Aramco compound for quite a while.

2000Flyer,
My father has been with Aramco for 12 years and is getting ready to retire. He's not in aviation, however. The meat of their fleet is made up of Boeing 737-700s and Dash 8s. They also have smaller numbers of other aircraft including the G-IV, the Hawker 800XP, and the AT-802. They also have a Citation and an AT-802 (not sure of the exact number) that is used for oil spill work. As far as hiring, they seem to be dead-set on hiring guys with Dash 8 or 737NG experience. I've tried to get hired before and I was told that it was next to hopeless at this point without time in their two main fleet types. Also, all positions require you to be based in Saudi Arabia. The benefits of working for Aramco are quite good, and my parents still feel pretty safe over there, although they have altered their routine a bit in the past couple of years. I hope this helps. Jobsataramco.com has alot of information on benefits and such.

Thanks for the info. All the info has been forwarded. I appreciate all the responses.

Borat Sagdiyev - no I didn't get on because of the slow market and I didn't follow up or pursue it. My wife put on the happy face for the indoc. and showed interest, to help the cause. But when we got home she said to keep in touch and she'd see me every 6 mos or whatever...:p

I've applied several times and only get the post card in the mail. I have plenty of Dash8 time plus the type.

They do all of their training at the University of North Dakota!

So as a Riddle grad I take this to mean they are second rate.:D

Aramco have recently been looking for 737 NG crew to fly domestic corporate routes within Saudi. They could not find Captains with NG time and hired at least one with 737-200 time.
Must live in Saudi. Not allowed to bring family during initial contract (6 to 12 months). May be offered to bring family on expat deal after a while if offered permanent employment. Excellent retirement for US Citizens on extended stay.
I guess the big turn off for many is the Saudi lifestyle especially right now with the current political situation....

I, too, applied several times last year in response to countless ads on various bulletin boards/job sites. All I ever got was email from HOU and then...... silence.

All rather strange as I have the B737 type rating on THREE ICAO licenses plus time on the NG, but not current. Also, I was ready to jump @ a moment's notice and go despite all the negatives of working in the ME. Never heard from them again and I see they are still looking!!!! Maybe they ARE having recruiting problems for some reason but don't know what.
