SAPA, this post is not meant to bash you, but rather present an idea. I understand that you are all very busy doing SAPA's business. Most of you are not being paid, and all of you are under appreciated. However, you are missing the big picture. The biggest single thing that would benefit your pilot group is UNITY. I haven't seen nor heard of one idea or initiative or strategy that is designed to create more unity.
You see, whether union or non-union, a pilot group is only as strong as they are unified. And while you are strenuously fighting up hill battles, working on various projects, trying to fight for that 1% raise, or get that one pilot his/her job back. You are spending an inordinate amount of energy on relatively minuscule things. EVERYTHING WOULD BE EASIER FOR YOU IF THE PILOTS WERE UNIFIED. So why not shift some energy to a LONG TERM strategy of increasing pilot unity.
Other pilot groups understand this, and have well developed strategies to increase unity (especially during critical times like contract negotiation). I'm not going to sit here and tell you in a sentence how to do it. But I will tell you it needs to be a long term initiative and a paradigm shift from where you are now. One weenie roast aint gonna do it.
Again, this is meant to be constructive criticism, not a bash session. But from where I sit, you're furiously expending energy but getting very little work done.
