SLC is a lot cheaper to live in than Las Vegas or Los Angeles. I'm spending 400 a month more to live in Las Vegas than I did in a better neighborhood just north of SLC.

Plan on 600ish per month for a basic 2 bedroom in the SLC area. Billings is a much smaller city, I'd imagine you could live fairly cheap there.

As far as Qol goes, there's plenty of mountains around SLC if you're into outdoor recreaton.

Anything else you're specifically looking for in QOL? Looking for a quiet town, or lots of city life?

Thanks for the info time bulider

I just looking for a half decent city thats reasonable to live in and one which isnt too expensive when it comes to going to the movies or having a cheap dinner date with my wife.

Probably like you, Im trying to get as much multi turbine PIC time as possible in the shortest time. I heard that the upgrade from the 99 to the Metro was 6 months in SLC which is why Im looking at Utah.

Do you know if SLC is the best place to get upgraded quickly. And do you know how long are the runs out there ?

Thanks

I hesitate to speak too much on behalf of AMF, but SLC is a nice place to live, and very family friendly. Probably more to do in SLC also.

Folks generally start in the chieftain on the west coast, and work their way to SLC or BIL to get in turbine equipment faster, they're both all turbine bases last I checked.

I could give you route info, but its probably all outdated. The trend, for SLC routes when I was there, was a couple hours a day flight time. Show up at 5AM, get back to the base around 6 to 7PM. The "holy grail" route was a BE99 run down to BUR overnight.

I've lived in Salt Lake City for almost a year now and I like it. It's a very nice place to live. I worked for AMF for the six month commitment and split. The schedule isn't all that great. You won't really be seeing the wife all that much. I'm not sure about Billings, but they may have better runs with better schedules. If you go to SLC, plan on being away from home M-F 5am-8pm. I hope you don't like sleep either. Fun Fun!!

I have an idea for ya. Go to SkyWest to live in SLC and upgrade to CRJ captain in less than 2 years. Much better QOL too. Instead of 8 days off a month, 12-16 days. Plus, you'll make the same if not a little more than as a 99 pilot at AMF the first year.

I guess it all depends on what your ultimate goal is. If you want to fly for the majors than personally I think SkyWest would be the way to go. If you want to fly for Net Jets or something corporate then AMF would definitely be the way to go.

That's my two cents.

I didn't know they were the same family. I think Apollo trumps Crown any day. Simply put, the fries are better!
