"We got 'em!" As announced by Paul Bremmer, Saddam Hussein was captured by soldiers of the 4th Infantry Division and Task Force 21.

As a snake, Saddam Hussein was hiding in a hole, and was capptured without a shot being fired.

Good work, U. S. Army soldiers in Iraq. We are proud of you.

Good work Army

The people that I am the most happy for are the Iraqi people. I hope that they turn Saddam over to them and let them stone him to death.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, We got him!"

Is there any way to rename this thread, or at least exchange the question mark for an exclamation point?

Way to go! Congratulations to our troops!

Perhaps Hussein really should be tried by the Iraqi people, though I like the idea of a Nuremberg-style trial and Saddam joining Manuel Noriega in a U.S. prison.

Operation Red Dawn...

Targets were Wolverine 1 and Wolverine 2...

I wonder if Patrick Swayze helped?

:)

Just woke up and put on Fox. WOW!!! This is an incredible way to start a Sunday.

This is another lost arrow for the Bush haters, and the beginning of a new era for the people of Iraq.

Osamma, are you listening? We're coming for YOU!

Merry Christmas, everyone!!!!

:D :D :D

Howard Dean has already spoken.

He is upset that we risked the lives of innocent Iraqis in this raid to satisfy the personal interests of George W Bush.

the personal interests of George W Bush

Oh, good. It's already started.

I. for one cannot contain my glee at the idea of Dean trying to spin this to make us look bad. He will show his colors as a part of the "hate America first" crowd. This is 1972 and George McGovern all over again.

Let freedom ring. Give Dean all the rope he wants. He'll figure out what to do with it.

:D

Two tasty tidbits to savor: Saddam Hussein's diminishing prospects as they pry all the information he has out of him and his ultimate fate in the hands of his own people (which won't come too soon, I'm sure, because they have a lot to get out of this guy)...

...and all the crow the liberal pundits on the Sunday talk shows and the liberal Democrats (okay, I know that last one was redundant) will have to eat after months of complaining that GWII was a failure because we didn't get Hussein (even after both his sons were killed last July).

Did you ever read about a frog who dreamed of being a king
And then became one
Well, except for the names and a few other changes
If you talk about me, the story's the same one

But I got an emptiness deep inside
And I've tried but it won't let me go
And I'm not a man who likes to swear
But I've never cared for the sound of being alone

I am, I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair
I am, I cried
I am, said I
And I am lost, and I can't even say why
Leavin' me lonely still

I can't find that any where, where did you hear that?

Great news, but he wasn't coordinating any of the attacks, as the "coalition" forces have acknowledged long before. It's the multiple disciples that he left behind. What we have is a definite boost of morale, akin to that of his statute being toppled. And after the statute felt much to our and the world's liking, the killing of troops still goes on on a daily basis

The region is still a mess, but watch W come out and claim, once again, "Mission accomplished"

Iraqis will dance for the cameras, but they danced for the cameras when the planes hit the towers, too

Just looking at it from a realistic standpoint of view

It must be depressing to be a communist sympathizer these days, nothing to look forward to with your favorite heroes lying dead in the ash heap of history, no God, no advancing the proletariat dream of taking over the world.

Good to see you put a negative spin on what you start out as saying "Great news." Too bad you had to show yourself with your next word, "but..."

No, he wasn't the grand mastermind behind all the attacks, but as a source of inspiration for the Baath party members and former Iraqi military officers that are behind the attacks, his capture will ultimately weaken their motivation because a possible reward for their murders, homicide attacks and general atrocities will be less in the long term. I expect a flurry of activity in response in the short term though.

As a figure head and a symbol for the Iraqi regime, this will be an important milestone in letting the average Iraqi know things are not going to revert back to the way they were.

This also lets our forces dismantle more of the terrorist network that launches the attacks in two ways. One, they won't be busy searching for Saddam, and two, he might very well provide information that will lead to the terrorists that mount the attacks against our forces.

All in all it's a red letter day, but nothing for your failed ideology.

What a great start to the day.

Congatulations to those involved directly and to all the troops from every nation in Iraq.

I will watch to see how Dean and co choke on this!!!!

Hussein followup

I should have added this above. Now, maybe once and for all, there might be answers to the question of where are all the WMD.
