I know there are a bunch of Illini alumni on the boards. I figured I should pass along some sad news, although I'd rather not. U of I's Chief Pilot Rick Weinberg died unexpectedly at his home from a heart attack on Thursday, August 7th. Rick had been at U of I for quite a long time, and held the position for Chief Pilot for many years. He will be missed by all alumni and current students/instructors.

Not sure if all the alumni got the word.

That is really sad to hear. He was a great man. I didn't go to U of I, but I did quite a bit of flight training down the road in BMI. He did three of my checkrides before I moved to FL. Wasn't he one of only a handful of people to have an ATP in every possible category and class? Thanks for the news and RIP.
