Sacrificial Goats repair 757. Aircraft back in International service - Fly Nepal Jets

KATHMANDU (Reuters) - Officials at Nepal's state-run airline have sacrificed two goats to appease Akash Bhairab, the Hindu sky god, following technical problems with one of its Boeing 757 aircraft, the carrier said Tuesday.

Nepal Airlines, which has two Boeing aircraft, has had to suspend some services in recent weeks due the problem.

The goats were sacrificed in front of the troublesome aircraft Sunday at Nepal's only international airport in Kathmandu in accordance with Hindu traditions, an official said.

"The snag in the plane has now been fixed and the aircraft has resumed its flights," said Raju K.C., a senior airline official, without explaining what the problem had been.

Local media last week blamed the company's woes on an electrical fault. The carrier runs international flights to five cities in Asia.

It is common in Nepal to sacrifice animals like goats and buffaloes to appease different Hindu deities.

Ohhh, they meant ACTUAL goats.

At first I thought they were talking about some legacy carrier F/As

didn't this happen in Turkey(the country) a few years back, think it was a Yak or a water buffalo. the mechanics sacraficed it on the ramp and they were fired for it if i remember correctly. i think it was a recurring problem, they decided to offer up the animal to apease the aviation gods.

I haven't seen this in FAR 43 appendix D as an approved repair method/technique. I'm not sure it's an entirely religous practice either, because I have seen airline managements sacrifice employees, in almost the same manner, when they can't figure out what's actually wrong.

Bad move

They may have appeased the Hindu sky god, but set themselves up for the "Billy Goat Curse". Any Cub fan will tell you how bad that is!

Guys dont give Hulas kanodia any ideas

I am sure Mesa Air will be incorporating something along these lines into their mx program now.

This is just what we DIDN'T need JO to see!

I can't wait till I check the log book when I go back to work next week and I see.... "Sacrificed Goat... Ops check good"

Actually I am EWR based so "Sacrificed 3 sewer rats.. Ops check good" is more like it.
