JPI is just a subsidiary of Jet Aviation, essentially their recruiting arm. While I am definitely NOT all knowing of how they operate I have dealt with them in the past. My info is only representative of my personal experience so.......
JPI essentially is a recruiting firm which places QUALIFIED persons in temporary/suplemental and permanent positions at Jet Aviation. With regard to pilots, on pre-existing accounts, JA uses JPI as a last resort to fill a permanent position when the company and existing crew (on the aircraft) don't already have someone known to them which they'd like to hire. JPI maintains a database and when needed they present candidates based on how well they fit the client's and JA's needs (current/typed/xxxx hours etc). In hiring climates such as what we've recently been through, I would guess that JPI does not place many people in an existing JA account. Most pilots know of somebody or someone who knows somebody who is looking for a job and the "who you know" principle applies for the most part. Now when a new client who doesn't have a crew or is a first time purchaser comes to JA, I believe JPI becomes an integral part of the equation. This is where JPI's headhunting skills and database of pilots is essential to provide the client with a true turnkey operation. I know of one guy from this board who got a job through JPI under these circumstances. (Again he was typed and current)
Bottom line is, JPI is nothing more than head hunter. If your qualifications meet their needs at the current time they can be an invaluable resource in your job search. But if you're just throwing your resume out there to see what happens don't expect much of anything from them at all.
