No. Yes. No.

Since you asked and all...

New paint is for United Express.

SA has been based in FWA for almost two years...not PIT. :)

Not quite the UEX paint scheme, at least not YET. There's some more to do on that fine bird (340SuperZhitty), not least of which is point out to the paint shoppe that the "Operated by Shuttle America" logo should be on the RIGHT of the door, not the left... Not to mention trim detail, decals, and the interior.

Seems to me it was just a "test run" to see how it should look on the other remaining aircraft, but then again that's only a guess. Let's just pray that each new paint job doesn't add 200lbs to the BOW and make me kick any (more) bags.

Though pit was a crew base for shuttle? And don't they have the most flights out of there for express carriers? If they pull out of pit what are the bases going to be? Just fwa? united doesn't fly into fwa so how is mtx getting done?

Well, around the "E" gates shuttlecraft are plentiful. However, they do share those gates with Colgan and Air Midwest props too. As far as Shuttle being the main express carrier in PIT, phat chance.... Have you seen all the taco jets and Crj's? (TSA, Mesa, Chautauqua, etc., etc.) The only thing that has been publicly stated, to my knowledge, is that shuttle will be reducing flying for Airways and flying 10 saabs as a United Express carrier. Where the new crew bases will be is still in the air. I heard that there may be a company-wide base rebid in the coming months, but take that as nothing more than rumor! Oh, and last time I was through FWA I thought I saw a United Express CRJ bound for ORD. Believe it was ACA. Maybe I.P. can shed light on this one. One last thing.... Happy Easter!

Yep, the UEX CRJ is ACA in FWA.

From what I understand, the bulk of SA's UEX flights will go out of IAD, but the MX will still be done via repo flights to FWA.

Danders is right, Cargoflyr69, Shuttle America has more departures than any other express carrier in PIT, and possibly more than mainline if I remember correctly (though I may not, so no quoting please).

Yes, PIT is our primary hub, with every scheduled flight in our system going to or from there with the exception of BED-TTN and TTN-BED... And even THAT was supposed to go away but due to customer demand we are staying there for the time being. The fact that Boston-Maine announced that THEY were going to do that run after we announced we were leaving means there's actually COMPETITION on that route, but the level of that competition remains to be seen.

The new deal with UA means that our new hub will be Dulles, but it doesn't necessarily mean that there'll be a crew base there. I've heard "yes, there will be, but a small base" and "no, there won't be", and I don't know which to believe. Guess we'll find out once the planners figure out what we're going to do. Weasel Keeper answered the other question, FWA remains the MX base and will remain a crew base, though a relatively small one (1/3 current size), and aircraft will be repo'd back and forth to and from maintenance at scheduled intervals. This will also allow people to get to and from FWA for training and for those who are based in FWA.

Anything else beyond this, I think, is purest speculation.

Doh! Sorry I.P. Guess evey time I taxi out in PIT seems like I'm always #XX for departure behind ERJ's and CRJ's. Maybe its just a tad bit of jealousy about wanting to fly a jet ;) Maybe I shoud just change my stance on Shuttle to "I dunno, I just work here" :D

Keep in mind how many companies are operating them there RJ's... At least PSA, MDA, TSA and Mesa. All those aero-planes are divided amongst four carriers. That doesn't include, of course, the RJ's operated by other carriers.

Not to mention Chautauqua. I think they run USAir into PIT, too.

When you see a SAAB, it's about 5-1 that it's SA.
