Hey all you pilots in the southeast: word had gotten out that Ron was closing this aviation institution. But I flew up there today to take my son to lunch and he is definitely still open, now 7 day/week, trying to keep it going. He even performs live music on Saturdays.
Please everyone put the word out and fly into FQD for lunch when you can. It would be a shame if this place went away.
For those of you who don't know it, it was rated #3 in the US by Flying Magazine for your $100 hamburger. It's a lovely location in the NC foothills and Ron makes a mean cheeseburger . . . don't forget to have the home-made bannana pudding for dessert.
Blue Skies.

I ahvent been up to see Ron in years, but I watched him build that place in the early 90s when I was pumping gas there. Nice to hear he's still around.

I took a couple of flights there in late 2001 and early 2002. It is a pleasant flight from the Charlotte area and a great place to go for a lunch. He makes a good chili as well.
