Airport manager in Joplin confirmed that Great Lakes just signed a contract for the Hanger in Joplin....the problem is they have no EAS there nor do they even fly there. Ant GL pilots have any insight for us over here at Air middie? thanks

This is a new one to me. I know we're aggressively pursuing some flying in various locations in the Missouri area, though. The only rumor I've heard of a buyer for Air Midwest (from an Air Midwest jumpseater), is that BigSky is wanting to buy you guys. I get the feeling that there's a lot of crazy things going on at Lakes right now (lots of hiring, lots of new bases supposedly going to be opening up, LOTS of rumors), but this is definitely a new one.

I've always wondered why Great Lakes is so big in DEN and not the Great Lakes region (hence the name). Also Key Lime in Denver. You'd figure they would be in South Florida area.

From the Great Lakes website...

1979: Great Lakes Aviation officially incorporated on October 25th; the company name reflected its expansion in the Iowa Great Lakes region of Northwest Iowa.

The crazy thing is that's not even the "Great Lakes" that people think we're named after. We used to be real big up in that area around Iowa, as well as the real Great Lakes...it's crazy how things change in the business. Can't help you on the Key Lime one.

So I guess GL isn't buying Rejex, eh?

Don't be surprised that Mesa is trying to dump AirMidwest to raise more $$$ to buy Comair this summer
