Date: 06/2001Region: CAR(II)Country: HONDURASCity: UnknownICAO: MHROAirport Name: Aircraft: Feedback: After researching with ground handlers, Honduran authorities, the Honduras AIP Publication and Cocesna, I ve come to the unfortunate conclusion that Honduras is charging a lot for parking at MHRO, MHLC, MHLM and MHTG. For example, a 45,000-lb. aircraft would be billed as follows: 45,000 lbs./2,000 22.5 tonnes, 22.5 tonnes x $1.00 US $22.5, US $22.5 x 12 tax US $2.70, US $22.50 US $2.70 US $25.20, US $25.20 x 24 hours US $604.80 total for a 24-hour parking charge. Note that a 12-percent tax needs to be added. These charges start after the first six hours of parking, which are free. After the first six hours is when you get charged for parking. In addition, notice that they have some very high landing charges, and you also will be charged for approach lights if arrival and/or departure is after sunset or before sunrise. The passenger departure tax is US $25.00 per person. 2.Date: 04/1999Region: Country: HONDURASCity: RoatanICAO: MHROAirport Name: Aircraft: Feedback: This was a decent small airport with Jet Fuel and they say runway lights. There was no published JFK Approach. The VOR, now on the airport, apparently replaces Utila VOR, which was 24 miles away. There was adequate ramp space. We paid airport fees $240 for a JetStar and fuel with U.S. dollars. Many of the airport personnel spoke only Spanish but ATC was good. The Fantasy Island Hotel is probably the best available. been there but overnighted in La Ceiba. We used Universal for handling. Very nice island with rather cheap-priced Lobster. I think Hyattt or Hilton or some other major chain has a resort there.

Easy airport, plan on gusty X-wind from the 2 o'clock on final. No radar. Friendly people, of the Caribbean-Jamiacan-etc laid back personality.

Thanks...Keep em coming

Thanks for the info...keep em coming. Is there a cheaper place to land in the area other than Roatan? Were in a Merlin IIIC

Roatan is an Island with excellent diving if that's what you are after. We spent a few days there last year.

Universal also did our handling and the only problem was our security guard who turned out to be the baggage handler... [Boss man wants security guards] After a bit of fast talking we managed to hire a local police officer to do it for some beer and USD$100..

We stayed at a place called "fantasy Island" [i'm not kidding] - but if We went there again I would stay on the other side of the island. The western side - plenty of options.

I have pics of the airport if you pm me. From memory Continental fly dorect from Denver....
