Hi everyone. Our company recently switched from a really nice hotel in Roanoke to a not-so-nice hotel. We have atleast 1 crew overnighting there every night of the week and lately we've been having lots of problems with this new property from rude desk staff to shuttle vans not being available after 9pm, etc. Kinda sux standing at the cab stand waiting with the crew at midnight!

before I start bitchin' to the hotel comittee, I'm wondering if any other regional guys and gals can chime in on the airline-friendly properties you all stay at and if its worth us checking into. Thanks!

I don't know anything about your old or new hotel, but I do know that the "airline hotel" (the one that alot of crews would stay at) from a few years back was supposedly haunted. The Patrick Henry Inn (I never had the opportunity to stay there when my company was overnighting there) was supposed haunted by multiple spirits, several victims of a fire in the hotel, another was a victim of a murder in a particular room. Heard this from several people at different companies, so it's apparently industry lore.

The Marriott Courtyard is nice, except that the shuttle only goes to/from the airport. No rides to any local restaurants. They do have a decent kitchen on property though. As long as you don't think $14 is too much for a chicken Caesar salad.

Back in my past regional life, we stayed at the Airport Wyndham. Nice hotel, good van, and they gave you the ubiqitous sack o' breakfast in the morning. I believe ASA, ACA (Indy), and ABX Air stayed there too, in addition to PCL.

ACA stayed at the Wyndham great hotel and people. Got the sack o breakfast for early shows and got a free buffet breakfast for the late starts. The van will take you over to the mall, lots to do around there its only 5 min max to the airport.

The way I heard it, it was a suicide of a husband. The wife then committed suicide, and she is said to roam the halls calling the name of her deceased mate. They say that right before she appears, the elevator gets stuck.

Haunted or no, the place gave me the creeps, along with the rest of ROA. I could never quite put my finger on it...the place seemed normal enough, but it always seemed to have this deliverance-esque thing going on at a sub-concious level. Or maybe it was just something I ate...

I didn't know that the regionals were using the Pat Henry any more. A couple of years ago we were staying there and the lamp on the night stand didn't work, so I looked behind the bed to se if it was plugged in and there sat a nice clean white rat skeleton.

Ahh, those were the days.

Another vote for the Wyndham - it where my current airline stays and the vans are usually punctual and always will run you around to wherever you want to go. Not sure how late they run though. Hotel itself is very nice indeed.

Stayed there several times while flying 135 and once while with ALG. Was told that people died in a fire there and that between 3 and 5 am the one hallway smells of burning hair and flesh.

I was born and raised in that neck of the woods but left the area and got some book learnin'.

And remember "We don't want yer money!"
