Why would you say that? As a new guy on reserve at CAL, you're just going to get whatever trip someone else calls in sick for. If the guy calling in sick was scheduled to be the FO, then you get the FO seat. If the guy calling in sick was scheduled to be the relief pilot, then you get that seat. Its 50/50.

It's actually more like 95/05. Unless the sick call is inside 12 hours (and even then it's not certain) a line holder will almost always drop an IRO trip to pick up an FO trip. With the electronic alerts it happens in about five minutes or less.
 
That is dead on what Comair is wanting to do! Take the flying at all cost, then shut the fu$ker down for $2.00 an hour more!
You total idiot. The Delta CNC negotiated your scope under direction from your MEC and ALPA National. Then your pilot group ratified the deal. The Comair pilots did not get a voice, or a vote. Why remain angry at Comair pilots for something they had no part of?
