Just for interest, what are the mins for Captains on any of the RJs?

Depends on the needs of the company. Currently at ASA you need ATP written and 3000 TT. However, there was a time when we were so short on the E120 that in basic indoc they were just picking the 3-6 guys with the most total time and saying "you, you and you are all going to be captains."

-Blucher:eek:

At TSA they have super high mins compared to CHQ and others. 4000TT, 2000 multi. Takes a while if you were a 500 hour guy when you got hired.

At SkyWest you need to be eligable for the ATP, 2500TT, 1000 turbine, 1000 turbine in a crew environment.

AWAC. ATP and the senortiy to hold the position. Several years ago we use to have stated mins for the airplane and upgraded out of senority. A grievance was filed and won by the pilots. Those that were bypassed were given back pay.

Yea but at TSA we have a 2 for 1 deal up to 800 hours. If you have 400 hours in the RJ at TSA it counts as 800 hours for the upgrade so most guys are going through with 3200 total time, my sim partner just did, which makes it not so bad, but still for low timers about 3 years. Senority will allow poeple to hold it before TT will in some cases.

rjacobs beat me to it... however, if you come to TSA with 3200 TT you can hold captain most likely after 1 year (seat lock) we have a lot of low time FO's that are fairly senior that don't have the TT req.

So just to clarify, you have to already have an ATP before you can upgrade? You can't do it through your upgrade?

I know FO's who have upgraded and done ATP at the same time. Too lazy to check our FOM to see if it requires an ATP in writing.

I was just under the impression that getting your ATP when you upgrade was the most common way that it's done. I'm looking at getting my ATP to apply at NetJets but I would find it funny if I had to go get it in a Duchess or Seminole just to be able to upgrade where I work now. That just seems kind of pointless which is why I was asking.

At Air Wisconsin, you can get your ATP and Type at the same time. I did just last year. Basically, it's the exact same ride. No biggy. Don't pay for the ATP rating.

to be an RJ Captain, you need to be divorced twice and furloughed 3 times. I think there are some flight time requirements too.

RJ's are not Real Jets. You can be a captain as soon as you are too big of a jerk to fly with in the right seat.

A common method is to vote in a terrible enough contract that guarantees enough growth to bump your seniority into the captain range. Reference mesa approximately 2002.

CMR requires 3000TT, 1000ME and 500 with the company. Your type ride can be used for your ATP.

FYI- Not that it matters these days, but the 500 company time can be waived.
