Reversers on JT8Ds w/ hush kits

Assuming these are Pratts but I could be wrong.... regardless, how do the TRs work on engines w/ hush kits?

Yes there are TR's on those engines pictured, they are internal. If you look closely at the exhaust end of the center engine you will see some fins like a vent. Above and below the fins you will also see small length long protrusions, these are covering the actuaters for the reverse system. Inside are two deflector doors sometimes reffered to as the clam shells because thats what they look like. They close up the back end and deflect the thrust out the fins during reverse operation. The number one and three side engines also have them. These are also JT8D series engines.

That aircraft appears to have only the cascade vanes instead of the deflector doors. The deflector doors and cascade vanes do the same thing, but would not both be installed on the same engine (JT8D) that is.

Either type of vanes used you need a deflector to pass the air through them. High bypass large turbofan engines have a series of blocker doors that deflect fan air through a cascade system or with low or no by pass engines they have a target type "clam Shells" to deflect the air. Some corporate high bypass turbo fans have target type as well.
