Check this out, AMR management is trying to get around the current ASM (Available Seat Mile) cap restriction on any codesharing partners that carry the AA code by starting what they are calling reverse codesharing. Un-freeking believable, they are going to attempt and put the Corporate Airlines code (3C) on all AA flights out of STL. TSA and CHA will surely follow. Corporate Airlines, Trans States Airlines, and Chautauqua Airlines operate some flights as American Connection out of St Louis.
I do not have the link to these comments yet, but I believe they are from planebusiness.com on the subscriber side. Below are the comments:
"In another interesting tidbit that seems to have broken Tuesday afternoon, we ask the question -- What is reverse codesharing? It seems the guys over at the Allied Pilots Association (APA) are about to become familiar with the innovative concept. We understand that Corporate Airlines, the AmericanConnection carrier, has signed a letter of intent with American Airlines (AMR:NYSE) to modify its codeshare agreement with the airline."
"In a move that is clearly designed to fly under the pilots' ASM cap, it appears that Corporate is going to place its code, 3C, on all American flights nationwide out of St. Louis."
"How 'bout that?"
"Speaking of Chautauqua, AKA Republic Airways, and their codesharing agreement with American out of St. Louis -- we understand that new agreements with both Chautauqua and Tran States are still in progress."
