General Lee?

Did it look like the Dukes of Hazzard car? If not, GL probably wouldn't own it..

Nope. It was a Hummer H2. Personally, I could care less. I just wish it wasn't featured front and center in the newspaper for the whole world to see. It just reinforces all those negative preconceived notions.

...and if it was good ol' General Lee I would send his picture out to all of you so he could get his a$$ kicked like he deserves.

Roger that....I'm still trying to figure out which is more pathetic. The guy spending that kind of cash on something like that or someone posting an article on a guy spending that kind of cash on something like that.......

duly noted.

I am sorry, I do not see how this reflects poorly on the pilot profession. A retired guy spends his money on things he likes? Is it really any different than the guy who buys his dream muscle car? Or retires and finally gets that new Cadillac or Mercedes? Maybe the guy who takes two or three really cool trips every year? Builds his dream house? Quite honestly, I am really happy for the guy. With all that has gone on in this industry, he gets to retire and do foolish things with his money. I hope I have the same options when I am his age.

In a world where a $40,000/yr truck driver will spend a years salary on a Harley, 21K for a golf cart doesn't seem like such a bad thing.

Amazing

Truley amazing how many people post on this board that seem to know what's right for everyone else. If this guy wants a golf cart, so what? Maybe we need the moral majority here to pass approval on persons retired or working and how they spend their money. Get a life, please and more important, get out of mine or others who may offend your sense of whats right or wrong.

Who cares if this guy spent that kind of money on a golf cart. As for it making pilots look bad..I dont think so. I would be willing to bet he was smart with his money over the years and probably lives mostly off of returns from good investments. Now he is in a position to buy stupid things like Hummer golf carts!

It's all about jealousy, kinda like everything else on this forum, mine's bigger than yours attitude, grow up!!!!!!!

just as Morrisey sings...We hate it when our friends are successful.

no one should have anything more than me...right? dorks

Retired pilot and 59, he sounds pretty smart to me. At least he's not one of the fools lobbying to fly until he dies.

They have cars for your dream muscle now? Dam, I was born twenty years too early!

The reality is this guy retired prior to age 60 so he could collect his lump sum before Delta decied he was not worthy of such a benefit, unlike the greedy bastards that run the company. For you know, he might have enjoyed the prospect of a couple more years in the cockpit. Maybe yes and maybe no, but your assumption that you know whats best for this guy and other like him is pure BS.

Two years ago I bought my Harley. Paid $24,000. Right now it's worth $24,000. What will that golf cart be worth in two years. Harley's are a pretty good investment in my opinion, but then again I'm not a trucker making $40,000. I'm only a pilot making well..... not enough, facing a pay cut and losing some retirement. Hey, I can always sell my Harley:)

Totally agree.

This guy worked worked his whole adult life to get where he is now.....if he wants to spend $140K on a Porsche Turbo, $21K on a golf cart, or $500 on a good bottle of Cabernet, who really cares? It's his money....I say enjoy it now, while you can.

I think it's sad that a retired Delta pilot can't afford a real Hummer 2.

Whoa, calm down Francis. Everybody was bagging on the guy for buying a Hummer golf cart. I just pointed out that he is retired and is 59. I envy is available to the guy and admire him. I just hope the option to leave prior 60 is still available for me.

We should all aspire to have the ability to frivolously spend cash as this man. One mans golf cart is anothers mans airplane, boat, car, or girlfriend!!!! Cheers to him!!! None of us fly airplanes for a living to be poor.
