Well, I don't know how to address that, but I can tell you I have personal experience with Kathy. She did a friend's resume that, prior to her touchup, made him look terrible, even though he is an airline captain with 3000 PIC turbine time. She redid the resume and it looks very impressive. She was also able to cover up his age and de-emphazise his lack of degree.

edited for my terrible spelling...

Yeah, I figured you for a genuine happy customer, or friend of a happy customer, as the case may be. You didn't post multiple times, didn't go on about all the other valuable services Kathy offers, and you didn't rave about how "wonderful' she is, how "friendly" and what a "nice lady" she is. That, to my cynical mind, sounds like someone describing herself as she wants to be perceived. Personaly I don't see the relevance of how "nice" she is, if I was looking for resume prep services, I wouldn't care if it was some cranky old bat with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth, if she could put together a good, effective resume.

nom-de-plumes

I like that, gotta try using it more often

anywho, BTT for her, if she's that good

any alternates, though?

this Mozambique fella I keep hearing about, is he on par with Kat?

"Odd isn't it how many of these "happy customers" seem to have an indepth knowledge af Kathy's history, and the additional services she provides. So, is this a coincidence, or is Kathy a busy little writer, with several nom-de-plumes?"

A Squared:
I just utilized Kathy's service and can assure you that before yesterday I never heard of her. I can also tell you that I have no prior knowledge of her "history". You can't BS about Aviation to someone in the business, and in 5 minutes I was confident that she had the experience I was looking for to write my resume.

She called me on her dime and
spent about 45 mins. getting the information she would need
to build a succesful resume for me. Kathy was completely
professional and knowledgeable of the Aviation industry.
Her experience in the business alone is a good reason to utilize
her services, it is an added bonus that she is friendly to boot.

I'm very happy with my choice. Thanks to this board for putting me in contact with her.

jbDC9,

You nailed it with the "infomercial" comparison. I think this was my favorite line from Kathy's script:

>>>>>>"The CP told me that they had gotten many resumes, but hadn't seen one that was layed out so professional. He said it was easy to read, got to the point and made his job easier by knowing exactly what I did in each job."

Yeah, that's exactly what Chief pilots say when they call you for an interview....they rave on and on about the layout of your resume....BTW Kathy, that should read:

".....laid out so professionally."

Hope your grammar is a little better on the resumes you're selling

A Squared and jbDC9,

Guys, what's the deal with flaming Kathy? If you have used her services and are unhappy then just say so. If you haven't then why do you care about the "Kathy Lovefest"? I don't see you pissing and moaning about the guy selling OxyClean and, hey, his crap doesn't work!

Here's my story. I contacted Kathy back in September because my resume needed a major overhaul. I e-mailed her on a Saturday and she called me on Sunday to "interview" me about my background, work experience and what my goals were. The next day Kathy had e-mailed me a proof. I called her the next day, we made some minor changes, and she immediately e-mailed the finished resume and cover letter. In addition, after I told Kathy about an America West app that I had on file she volunteered to contact the 737 and Airbus Chief Pilots for me. End result - I am meeting a senior check airman from AWA this week to discuss my app.

I do agree that I don't care if my resume writer is an "old bat with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth". However, it sure is nice to deal with someone who is consistently friendly and genuinely interested in your success. Kathy's got it figured out, folks. It's all about customer service. BTW, people in Phoenix must think pretty highly of Kathy, too. I came out here last week to get my 737 type at K&S. I turn on the news the other morning and lo and behold they are interviewing Kathy about the job market and how to best market yourself.

In the end I consider the $150 I spent on a new resume and cover letter to be money well spent. Kathy has replaced my lame resume with a document that places me and my background in the best possible light. Trust me when I say it, that task is equal to leaping tall buildings in a single bound. I can't personally comment on the cookies but the next time I talk to her I'll ask her to send a sample for me to try. I'll keep you posted.

Well, well,

Another glowing testimonial from a member who posts exclusively to threads about job hunting.

Is it just me or do these names seem to all have a similar syntax?

Could be a coincidence, along with the similar posting histories and similar styles of writing. It *could* be that they all share the same penchant for hyperbole (leap tall buildings, indeed!) and the same love for the exclamation point....could be, but like I said before, I'm cynical, and I tend not to believe in coincidences

To answer your question NewFreqKathyFlyGuy67;

"If you haven't then why do you care about the "Kathy Lovefest"?"

I can't answer for jbDC9, maybe he just doesn't like puking. As for myself, I felt compelled to comment because of a great personal weakness of mine; You see, I have a large measure of contempt for frauds who pose as someone else to sell some product they offer. I suspect Kathy of this.

ASquared - Your right, it's a conspiracy. All these people are all paid actors.

I found your thoughts quite amusing concerning me. Let me quote you:

>>The preponderance of New2flying's posts have been to threads whicch centered around employment issues.<< (by the way, you might want to use your spell checker)

I took a look back at my posts and here are some of the threads I have posted to:
Airline Pilot Tax CPA
Humorous Novelty Item
Remembering 9/11
Skywest Nose Gear Up
Filthy Hotel Rooms
New Law Suit (which by the way YOU replied to)
Phoenix to Sun Devil Stadium
Restaurants on the Road

Those don't look "employment issue" related to me. Also, if you had read any of my posts about hiring issues, you would have seen that I was on the Hiring Committee at my airline. Sue me for wanting to help out my fellow aviators.

>>Another glowing testimonial from a member who posts exclusively to threads about job hunting.<<

This comment was truly funny. What do you think 90% of the people read this board for?? What were the moderators thinking putting all those interview related boards on here??

>>Is it just me or do these names seem to all have a similar syntax?

Call the police, these people all have flying related names!

I have made no bones in my posts that I am friends with Kathy. I worked with her and she helped me out when I was furloughed in 1991. I thought I would help out others by posting her info if they needed a resource.

I think you are right that you have too much time on your hands.

Hey A Squared,

I think you posted before that you were cynical. You're correct. I can't say that I remember what I have posted about before. Good chance it was employment-related. Maybe that's because I am looking for a job. However, I did start a thread the other day asking about whether or not the type requirement was going away at SWA. Look it up. I (Kathy?) heard it from a fellow groundschool student at K&S last week. I guess Kathy has nothing better to do than hang out in 737 ground schools trolling for business. As I said before, if you never had Kathy write your resume than why flame her. Someone was just looking for resume advice and you and jbDC9 hijack the thread with unsubstantiated(?) opinions. Also, since you figured out that we are all Kathy I'd like to know who killed JFK.

A Squared…

With each post you’re looking like a bigger and bigger idiot. It’s become apparent that you have NO IDEA as to what the H*LL you’re talking about.

Simple question, and it has been asked already (yet surprisingly  you haven’t answered it). Have you even used Kathy’s service???? For that matter have you ever spoken with Kathy before??

It’s quite obvious that you haven’t, because for those of us that have we’ve all had great results… so why is it so different for you? What’s your problem? If you weren’t satisfied with the service why don’t you just say so?! What’s with all of the mudslinging, be a professional, GROW UP!! Explain to all of us here what you did not like, or why you feel it wasn’t worth your money and be done with it; your words would go much further.

Now, as for jbDC9 , what’s the point in posting?? Because in doing so you’ve just become the same "moronic actor" that you’ve so eloquently described. Quite apparent that you too have NO idea what you’re talking about in reference to Kathy’s services. Which is why we’re all here in the first place, no?

But A Squared, you sir are correct about one thing though, there is a conspiracy; however, it exists between yourself and your “paid actor” jbDC9.

Time to put up or shut up people, what’ll it be??? Have you or have you not used Kathy’s service?

As for myself, I’ve received great results thus far and am very happy and impressed with the service received. I too have called Kathy on a Saturday afternoon to have questions answered or letters reworked with no hesitation on her part. For what it’s worth, I was flown in for an interview the other day… 4days after submitting my resume. Something to think about.

For those of you reading this wondering why there are those of us who are taking the time to stick up for Kathy I can only offer you one suggestion. Give her a call, talk to her, I promise you within 5mins you’ll know why.

Folks, I don't have an opinion on Kathy's services, never used her services, don't know anyone who has. No reason to form an opinion one way or another.

As I have already explained, I do have an opinion on what appears to me to be her method of self promotion. I've expressed that opinion. We can bicker about who's real and who's imaginary, but without the ISP's we'll never know. At this point, I am perfectly content to let anyone who's interested come to thier own conclusions. Read the posts, decide for yourselves which sound like real pilots commenting on good service, and which soundd like somone advertising thier services under false preteneses, compare with the things she writes on her website.

As for the suggestion that jbDC9 and I are the same person, that's pretty weak. If you care, take a look at our posting histories, I think it will be obvious that we are both actual pilots and different persons. You'll see posts about flying techniques, discusing planes we've flown, arguing about technical details, you know, hangar flying, pilot talk ....... things that are all missing from the posts by the Kathy converts.

Anyway, I've spent far too much time on this, I don't have *that* much free time. If anyone is still reading, read the posts, make up your own mind.

Unreal....

I'm going through the threads reading away and I see the huge number of posts to this thread. I was really shocked. While there were some very good things said about Kathy, further down the thread the sh*t started to hit the fan. I'm not sure what ASquared and JBDC9's (whose post mysteriously disappeared) problem is, but all I can say is that Kathy helped me a lot. If she hadn't gotten my resume done so quickly, I might have missed the opportunity to get the job I sent in the resume for.

I am very offended that my name was brought into this that I am somehow a "mystery poser pilot". I believe ASquared said that because I haven't posted to aircraft related threads, then I'm a fake. Does this person have a life other than aviation? I talk technical aviation at work, I don't want to do it on my off time.

I came on this board to get information, to read interesting posts and to feel a part of the aviation community, which sometimes gets isolated as a Corporate Pilot. I appreciate the forum being here and for getting me hooked up with Kathy.

For those of you reading this thread, I would question what beef Asquared and JBDC9 have with Kathy. It sounds a little personal to me. Therein lies the mystery to me.....

Okay, I'm two weeks late on this but I gotta speak up. I just utilized Kathy's services for my resume and a cover letter.

I thought she did an an outstanding job, both with the quality of work and her helpful demeanor. I would highly recommend her services to anyone looking to improve the manner in which they market themselves.

A-Squared, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I really do think you're wrong. If you believe Kathy is engaged in less than appropriate self-promotion, then have the cajones to call her and accuse her yourself. Don't disparage her in public anonymously. If you're not the confrontational type, (I think you are) then report your suspicions to a moderator. She didn't attack your livelihood, lay off of hers.
