Depends on where you're applying and how much time you have. If you have 750 and are applying to Southwest and Jetblue, you'll likely not get called. To be more serious though, maybe try Colgan. I interviewed there and was very impressed with the operation. There were guys in the interview with me that had that amount of time or less.

Resume. Most carriers will look at that more than anything and if you can formulate a decent letter on your own you'll be okay.

That said, I did my first "professional pilot" resume and cover letter based off of AirIncs book and then had the free review and critique done at one of their job seminars.

I got two interviews within 3 weeks of that.

After almost 8 years of working at one of the companies I interviewed with, I'm looking to move on and had Kathy at www.awriteresume.com "tweak" my resume for me. The product came back with similarities to my original but overall I thought it summed up the changes in my qualifications MUCH better than what I originally had. It may seem pricey but it will be a small and worthwhile investment if you get a job you want.

I haven't had any bites yet, but the places I have apps in do not accept resumes and also have a LOT of apps on file. So it's really hurry up and wait i guess. :erm:

As to the question of resume or cover letter, I would definitely say the resume. In the resume you have a chance to detail your work history. The cover letter is more of a promotional piece on why they should hire you over other candidates. In that, you can detail your more personal qualfications that cannot be found on a resume.

With that said, they are two totally different documents. Each is written with a different, yet similar, purpose. It also depends on how you are going to apply. If you are sending things in, via email or snail mail, you need both. If you are visiting employers personally, you can get away with just the resume.

Does anybody have any experience or success stories of Kathy's services outside of the aviation field? I'm not doubting Kathy's abilities at all, just curious of results elsewhere. I'm about fed up with the job I'm in now, and have been slingin' a few resumes, without much success.....
