I think my luck with AMEs has run out.

For my first medical in 1998 the doctor told me my eyes were bad so I went to an eye doctor and he told me my sight was 20/12 and I didn't need to worry. I then went back to the AME who apologized for making a mistake and gave me my medical.

The next year I went to a different doctor who didn't say a word when he listened to my chest first thing and told me he "hears something" and couldn't issue me a medical. He refered me to a cardiologist who, after $6000 worth of tests told me I had a small murmur that wouldn't affect my medical. No big deal until I applied for the Navy. Then I couldn't get a flight slot even after they took me down to Pensacola and said I had a healthy heart, no murmur. You see the paperwork from before kept me from flying and they said I could have an NFO slot.

No problems after that until yesterday. I got my background check confirmation from the FAA and it didn't list my last medical from last August. I wondered about this so I called the FSDO and talked with a man who said "you went to Dr. xxxxx, right?" I said yes. So he looked up my file and found two of them. Thanks do the doc who spelled my name wrong the FAA's paperwork on me is completely f#$ked. He said he would sort it out, and then mentioned that the AME I had gone to last year won't be giving any more certificates.

Now I need to find a descent AME. Hopefully that won't be too difficult. Any suggestion in the Chicago area?????
