I had a couple ?'s for you guys(particularly recent chq hires) and any input would be appreciated.

I understand that you typically put in your choices for a base pick while your in training. However, how common is it to switch bases once youre on reserve or even after you hold a line. What are the particulars that are involved in the process?

Also, Im considering possibly having to commute while on reserve. I know this is not a fun thing to do but what are some of your past experiences? Do crashpads typically charge more for something like that since you would be there more?

Easy to switch bases...Can do it as much as you'd like. You won't find out what base you are assigned until close to the end of training anyway. Simple as filling out a form online. Most bases you'd be able to get into within a month or 2, others (like MCO) may take more time.

Experiences commuting to be on reserve....It sucks. You will get used to dealing with crew scheduling early and often. I haven't heard of a crashpad charging more for this reason, although some are for commuters only, meaning no living there basically full-time. Wouldn't apply to you. pm me with any other ?'s
