Just wondering if anybody else recieved a letter from UAL rescinding the conditional job offer from the UAL pool pre 9-11.

Thats about standard for United. Back many years ago when United started hiring again, I interviewed with United. In my group were several pilots who had started training with United and were furloughed before completing training. United was requiring them to re-interview and go through the whole process. You have to wonder what kind of loyality that inspires in the employee groups.

Talk about salt in the wound. And to what end? So they can empty one file drawer?

Probably some attorney is tying up loose ends. Who knows what UAL could be sued for if they keep a job offer open ended?

Same thing happened with NWA just after 9/11 when they announced they were going to furlough. Like Ziggy said, standard legal stuff so they don't tie their hands and put themselves in legal jeopardy.
