Requesting Information on the ICAO Call Sign process

Hello All,

I searched FI and found old threads relating to obtaining an ICAO call sign. I contacted our local FSDO and the duty officer really didn't have an understanding on how to begin the process.

Has anyone recently gone thru the process of getting a call sign? Would you mind posting who you contacted and what resources you used to guide you thru the process? Any other tips also welcome, along with PMs.

I spoke with someone from ICAO last year about this and was told that our local authority i.e. FAA had to approve it, once they (the FAA) approved it, the information was passed on to ICAO. NEver went beyond that, principals of the company didn't want to pursue it anymore.
