May any Evergreen pilots on this board please give me a PM at your convenience?

Thanks in advance

Just heard on the "other board" that EZ furloughed the most recent class on their last day of ground school. Anyone able to confirm?

Yes...but there may be more to the story.

I think they will be back soon...Things are slow in Feb about 5 planes parked for MX things look good starting in March. I guess they backed out of the deal for the 2 GE jets. Same old evergreen stuff...

Just saw an ad on climbto350.com that Evergreen is hiring FO's and SO's. If they just furloughed what gives?

Are they one of those companies that furlough then recall then furlough to avoid paying folks during down time?

They used to do that all the time but in the past few years they haven't. Now they have guys sitting at home waiting to start IOE and they were still hiring so that could be part of the problem. All I know is Smith came in pissed and said let people go.. I think it will be short term...

And he knows there will always be guys to fly open time while guys are on furlough....like he said - same old EZ.

You are correct we lost 5 or 6 people.. I think DX lost one, crew sked 1 also... It is not good alot of good people involved. I hope it is short lived.

I have been told it was more than 5 or 6 it was the entire new hire class of 12. They were told at the end of class on their last day.

Yes, the Evergreen crews aren't scheduling and positioning themselves well enough. This causes missed flights, which lead to lost revenues, which lead to furloughs.

And the pilots aren't doing maintenance well enough either.

Off topic a little bit, but what does Evergreen do with their Casas? I know they're seldom seen in the US, but that's about it.

It was not only the pilots that were layed off. MX, DX. crew sked, Sys ops and several other parts of EIA had to let people go. I know pilots only care about pilot jobs so lets try to think about the other people at the company now out of work also!! It dose not make any sense to lay people off for a month but that is what he has done so all we can do is hope it is short lived and move on. I think the number used was 10% for all depts...

What's so silly is that it's avoidable! I mean the performance of the airline rides on the backs of interns and minimum wage(at least minimal wage) employees, right?! If pilots didn't speak up about positioning and work on days off, AND make 30% less than competitors, where would this airline be?!

No, I don't buy that furloughs were necessary in any department.

*** My tone is in response to the phone mail that was left yesterday re: performance BTW.:((

I do not get phone mail so I did not hear the massage that you speak of. I agree with you that the furlough was not called for. To blame anyone for the for the airline preformence or lack there of is crazy. What I was getting at is there were more people affected by this then the pilots. I hope you guys are back to work soon as I really like working with most of you guys..

What is even more silly is all the money already laid out on the NH class, hotel $30,000+, van rentals, books etc etc. Sim was already booked, most had a wait of only 10 days before heading there, more money wasted on cancellations.

To much money wasted is the big story... I am hoping are new airline prez can talk some sense into the old man to keep this from happening again. He has been doing a good job of keeping silly stuff like this from going on but this time he could not...I guess
