we should be able to turn this into a great drinking game. I think every reference to religion should be a shot of Jack Daniels - I doubt we will need any additional rules because my guess is with the one rule we will never make it past 5 minutes in the show. Just in case does anyone have any other suggestions?

Got this on my ATA Brief emails....

Republic CEO says undercover stint opened his eyes:
While taping for this Sunday's episode of the CBS show "Undercover Boss," Republic Airways CEO Bryan Bedford says his biggest eye-opener "was just the disconnect and (poor) communication between the management team and frontline employees." Bedford assumed an alias -- and a hairpiece -- to work unrecognized alongside flight attendants, ticket agents and other employees. Bedford admits to "a lot of embarrassing moments," but says there were plenty of lessons, as well. For instance, working as a flight attendant taught him not to overlook leisure travelers "who may have saved a whole year" for their vacation.

After Bryan Bedford dumped the aircraft's toilets, the airline should have dumped him. He's no different than most CEO's, the only things he cares about is his big salary, bonuses, and himself. A message to the employess of Republic, don't expect any good things anytime soon (if ever).

There's a reason he did this on the F9 side. He wouldn't dare come spend a day at work on the FFD side.

No more CHQ rampers working the Airways gates at IND?
I don't get in and out of there much but last I heard (and this was a long while ago) was that the CHQ rampers/agents whathaveyou left when the switch to the new terminal was made.

Yikes. He is a little creepy....Okay. A lot creepy...

Seems like a smart guy. The show was interesting. Changes nothing.

I liked his million dollar house with the private indoor basketball court. The tennis court out back was nice as was the lake view. It was so christian to maintain your faith and take 10% from you employees to contribute to the home. I always heard christians should give (or is it take) 10%...

EXACTLY...reverse tithing going on there.

...oh and that was definitely a SEVERAL million dollar house...much much more ostentatious than any other (much larger compnay's) CEO has had on there yet.

...and they say the airlines are broke

UNDERCOVER BOSS ON NOW w/ BRYAN BEDFORD of REPUBLIC
SOMEONE is making mega $$$$. Anyone watching Undercover Boss right now see Bedford's Super Premium Mega Maxi Mansion with the basketball court, all the turrets, etc? Right before he talked about employees needing to take wage cuts in order to keep their jobs... :angryfire

The RJ business (and acquiring bigger and bigger) is doing QUITE well it seems.

Shhhh...don't tell the kool-aid pilots on here that, though.

SOMEONE is getting wealthy in this economy. (...and in typical fashion airline pilots believe the broke nonsense and keep taking pay cuts)

Oh yeah...love the born again bs too from someone who has destroyed people's careers & airlines

...so rather than give the completely BROKE people $$$ he sends them on vacations & gives them $ to donate to CHARITY??? Is he that far removed from their circumstances STILL????

...and then the best part...he graced the whole airline with their 10% paycut back..WELL... "over the course of the next 3 years" anyway. Doesn't even cover cost of living increases! ARGH

An hour of my life wasted to b/s

End of the show the guy says we are going to give you back your ten percent over 3 years. WHAT AN A@@HOLE! Guy making ten bucks an hour... Goes down to nine bucks... You give him back 33 cents a year.

Oh and the jerk is shocked to discover that his employees are primary wage earners. Did he think every person at his airline was doing this on the side for the travel benefits?

Final question: Why did god screw all your employees so much? Most of them seem to be just as religious and trust in god. Yet somehow you got a mansion and they got a 10 percent pay cut and a world of other problems. Tell the truth you penis. You would turn your back on jesus in a heart beat if you got the hand your employees were dealt.

Ok I have got a target on the chest here but what is stopping any of you from being the CEO of your own Airline or any other company for that matter? Sometimes reading this web board, I wonder if you voted for Obama and the Socialist ways or a free market where if you work hard take a little chance in life you can be what you want.
Before you start throwing the rotten eggs at me I am like many on this board. 4yr degree, 2 years as a CFI and now 10 years at a Regional. I make good money as an RJ pilot but I also started my own business a few years ago and make $10,000 month doing that. Why do I keep flying, because each "job" is an insurance for the other if one fails. God know that the FAA can take your job at any moment.
Go ahead and throw.

I bow down to your greatness.

I could give two craps if BB worked his way to the top through hard work, education, and risk taking. **He didn't**. And his kids wont either. But that's not the point people are making. People are saying, "hey look at that guy's f*cking house, we took wage concessions and he gets that?"

Thats enough to make anyone a socialist. That guy didn't "earn" a damn thing, he's a ********************ing weasel that was born into a well-to-do family to begin with. His life's accomplishments are forcing poverty level employees to take wage cuts and reaping the net benefits for himself.

Judgement day is coming motherf*cker.

Likeitis,
Don't bow, that was not what i was not my intent. My background was to explain that anyone can be successful. Bitching and moaning poor me all the time sounds like someone sitting on there couch watching soaps all day collecting a check once a month saying damn my 55" plasma is just to small running down to 7-11 complaining there Schlitz is to warm.

As to background specifics....I don't know his. Maybe he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth or $ss. So what. You were not born in a hut in Ethiopia either so you got a leg on most in this world. If you don't have money to invest in your future, how about investing time. I took $65, a cc and have done pretty well in a few years. Do something then just watching porn on your overnight.
Anyways its nothing directed to just you. Just a bunch of "your's" on this site need to take a step in a direction. Doesn't matter which direction just get up and start walking and going somewhere so to speak.
I don't ever plan on winning the lottery but then again why should I expect to, I never buy a ticket.
Anyways enough of "me" as you would say. Just posting an observation from where I have sat and where I sit.

Man you are clueless. I don't see people bitching about anyone's work ethic or success. They are bitching about some religious nut's propensity to hypocrisy. I'm assuming you aren't making money off of stealing it from others. I'm assuming your actions aren't putting thousands of people out of work. I'm assuming that if you have employees you aren't asking for pay cuts from then and putting in a basketball court. I'm assuming the if you have employees you don't spend money on attorneys to find ways to screw them. I'm assuming that you know the definition of a seat. I'm assuming you wouldn't go on TV and state you are hiring when in fact you have people on furlough. I'm assuming your not voicing your religious views on employees in weekly sermons. You get the idea.

What do you guys expect from a guy with a finance background? Although the guys that were former baggage handlers don't seem to do w ell either.

I had never watched this show before. I thought it was pretty hokey. I mean, didn't anybody on the ramp get suspicious when somebody just shows up and tells them he's a new hire, reporting for work? And how do you go "undercover" as an FA, especially when you're asking dumb questions about how much the job pays? Wouldn't the senior FA on the flight have been notified that there's a new hire fresh from training who'll be working the flight?

Not only that, the photography didn't look like it was taken with a hidden camera, so all the employees had to know that something was going on -- like that this thing was staged. If I worked there, I would have been suspicious as he11.

It's not supposed to be hidden. They tell them they're documenting new hires and they bring in a couple of actors including the CEO. They completely change their appearance with a wig and glasses etc. But yea, at some point the show will be big enough to where the employees would start to suspect when they have pro camera men start shooting around with new hires.

Apparently you didn't pay close enough attention to what the show said. They pretty clearly explained at the very beginning that that the CEO was masquerading as one of two people who were on a reality TV show "competing" to be a new-hire.

So, there was another person who did all the same stuff that Bedford did to keep up the charade, but that person and their actions didn't make the Undercover Boss show, for obvious reasons.

Kept looking for an airport ID. Not even a temporary. How did he get around THAT?

Apparently not. I didn't catch that.

Still, I'm surprised that this many of the "real" employees would fall for that explanation.

As someone employed at a small, non air carrier airport, my office gets flooded regularly with all the security awareness & training stuff that TSA cranks out. If a reality TV crew showed up and started filming a couple of "competing new hires" with bad haircuts and three days worth of stubble, I'd be making some phone calls. ;)
