Last Thursday Republic withdrew it's certificate for approval from the FAA in Indy. They were going to get denied so they withdrew instead. They are going to hire an outside firm to help get it right, which they should have done a year and a half ago. It is going to a couple of months before they will start the process again.

Where did you hear this unsubstantiated rumor from?

It would seem to fit the cancellation of RP new-hire classes, but begs the question of who will fly the 170s for United? Can CHQ do it without violating their codeshare's scope?

AWAC?

May as well add Shuttle America to the rumor mill. We all know that Shuttle is part of the Wexford clan and if Chautauqua/RP can't do it for whatever reason, Shuttle could be there to pick up the pieces and keep the money in-house. With US Airways flying to cease in October, and all our eggs in the United basket, there could be lots of pilots on the street. lots of pilots that could fly RP aircraft. Merely speculation from a frusterated Shuttle pilot

Ahh.... its deregulation all over again. A couple of majors will go belly up, many low cost careers will pop up and they will go bankrupt as well. History has a funny way of repating it self. Management will cash out and the employees and the stock holders will get stuck with nuts in hand.

Mid-Atlantic? I thought the Republic 170's were to be flown for United Express. There seems a conflict of interest there. Oh well, once again time will tell. It's been a long month and morale on this end is weaing ever thin. Good luck to all involved!

United is done. No 170s for them. For once, perhaps, CHQ is going to avoid an overly-risky venture in favor of long-term stability. (Funny how they beat us over the head about the United deal being screwed over by our strike vote, and yet, we may never have gotten United any way for so many obvious reasons!) Maybe for the company that comes in and buys up the bankrupt pieces of the soon-to-be defunct airline we'll fly 170s, but not for United in its present form. That's my thinking.
