Last Thursday Republic withdrew it's certificate for approval from the FAA in Indy. They were going to get denied so they withdrew instead. They are going to hire an outside firm to help get it right, which they should have done a year and a half ago. It is going to a couple of months before they will start the process again.

what certificate?..?..
I presume Axel is referring to the OPERATING certificate.

Where did you hear this unsubstantiated rumor from?

It would seem to fit the cancellation of RP new-hire classes, but begs the question of who will fly the 170s for United? Can CHQ do it without violating their codeshare's scope?

AWAC?

May as well add Shuttle America to the rumor mill. We all know that Shuttle is part of the Wexford clan and if Chautauqua/RP can't do it for whatever reason, Shuttle could be there to pick up the pieces and keep the money in-house. With US Airways flying to cease in October, and all our eggs in the United basket, there could be lots of pilots on the street. lots of pilots that could fly RP aircraft. Merely speculation from a frusterated Shuttle pilot

Ahh.... its deregulation all over again. A couple of majors will go belly up, many low cost careers will pop up and they will go bankrupt as well. History has a funny way of repating it self. Management will cash out and the employees and the stock holders will get stuck with nuts in hand.

Mid-Atlantic? I thought the Republic 170's were to be flown for United Express. There seems a conflict of interest there. Oh well, once again time will tell. It's been a long month and morale on this end is weaing ever thin. Good luck to all involved!

United is done. No 170s for them. For once, perhaps, CHQ is going to avoid an overly-risky venture in favor of long-term stability. (Funny how they beat us over the head about the United deal being screwed over by our strike vote, and yet, we may never have gotten United any way for so many obvious reasons!) Maybe for the company that comes in and buys up the bankrupt pieces of the soon-to-be defunct airline we'll fly 170s, but not for United in its present form. That's my thinking.

Legacy Driver, or Skull-1 Take note!!

You don't work for us anymore, so stop poisining the pool with your BS

what about this?

I heard from somebody who was talking to somebody who heard that the big mucky-mucks at CHQ had a meeting in IND the other day, with the primary topic being some some kind of transaction between CHQ and USAirways regarding MDA. Take it for what it's worth (nothing), but it seems to fit. USAirways did LOA 91 and we all said Mesa, but CHQ (RP, whatever, same difference) was planning on gearing up with the 170's anyway. So despite all the big plans that US has for MDA, with the opening of new bases and the exodus of WO'd pilots to fill those slots, if the financing gets yanked, who knows what could happen? It would create a huge quagmire and probably an ugly fight, with all the WO'd pilots getting ready to go to MDA, and CHQ hiring loads of new people for who knows what reason. Did the WO'd MEC's ever work out the exclusion of their flow-through rights if MDA is sold off under LOA 91?

Sorry LearLove, I'm just spreading the garbage rumors I hear...

But I do work for CHQ, that's where you're wrong. I guess anyone who dares to say anything negative about CHQ is "Skull-1" now. Well, that's certainly one way to degrade an opposing view. I don't give you many points on your "NYAH-NYAH-NYAH-NYAH-NYAH" argument style but cool nickname. I like rhymes. :)

hmmmmm.....

Had a CHQ pilot ask myself and a couple other employees today if I heard about some "big announcement" Thursday. Of course, we said no.

On a related note, evidently RP is having a hard time getting their operating certificate because they used modified CHQ manuals and the FAA didn't like that too much. A few of us were speculating that RJET was going to put the 170s for UAL on the CHQ certificate until they can get the Republic stuff straightened out. Of course I dont have any hard evidence for that, other than some people high up in CHQ mgmt are scrambling to put together a training program for the 170.

Hmmmmmmmm, the rumor mill thickens...It's gonna be an interesting few months.

Well, at least we are hearing similar rumors. I was told that the FSDOs are fighting with each other over the training program. This is what I heard so please no stone throwing... "MA has the only approved 170 program in the US and Repbulic adopted it for training CHQ pilots. Republic's controlling FSDO vetoed the move because they did not approve the program themselves even though another FSDO did for MA."

As you said, the plot thickens.
