DISCLAIMER:

The new and improved j4j vote at CHQ ratified the protocols by a 10-1 margin. Aside from a strong objection on principal to the entire concept, Brother Francis saw the new and improved vote as a flaming hoop (ignited by the threat of an alter-ego and held by U-ALPA, who three years ago considered Regionals something to be scraped off their highly polished shoe with a stick) and was among the treasonous 10% who refused to jump through it.

Now then:

In a direct reply to an e-mail sent to Bryan Bedford by our own Brother Francis, Mr. Bedford flatly and irrefuteably stated that Republic was j4j and j4j only. The spin was that the deal with U for Republic enabled CHQ to get j4j airplanes in a 1-3 ratio with Republic, thereby getting more $$ for Wexford and at the same time providing CHQ with more U jets despite our vote to decline the original j4j. With that in mind, Brother Francis submits the following letter which, if Mr. Bedford is true to his word , completely eliminates the basis for the creation of Republic.

What do YOU think will happen?

Dear Mr. Siegel:

Letter of Agreement 83, Accelerated Small Jets, states “no aircraft will be placed into revenue service for Republic Airlines under the US Airways code except with the approval of the Association.”

The Association has been informed that the pilots of Chautauqua Airlines, represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, ratified the “Jets for Jobs” protocols on March 28, 2003. The Teamsters represent this ratification to be “unconditional”.

Since the Chautauqua pilots have now indicated that they are willing to participate in the “Jets for Jobs” program, the Association sees no need for Republic Airlines to operate as a US Airways Code Share partner. With the approval of the "Jets for Jobs" protocols, US Airways should immediately implement the terms of paragraph 2.E. of Letter of Agreement 83 and place additional Chautauqua small jets into service in accordance with the Letter of Agreement.

Sincerely,
Captain William D. Pollock
MEC Chairman

Chautauqua pilots don't seem to be complaining about flying "American Connection" routes while Eagle pilots are on furlough. Until then, more power to Republic. One cannot sanctify labor struggles ala carte per one's benefit.

Yep,Viva Zapata, and great floods resulted from the tears of APA members, shed for the TWA folks who got the boot and AA gladly takes those old Tee-Dub routes. So what's your point ? Even if you parked every AX jet,Eagle pilots would be on the street, thanks to the APA scarfing up the jobs at Eagle ("I believe I'll have me one of them 70 seat RJ Captain gigs,oh,and all the new ERJ captain slots ,too.").
