Not quite true. Post 9/11 flowbacks are now upgrading and we should hit 2004 newhires within the next 1 or 2 vacancy bids. Not a perfect world, but it's also not only "pre 9-11" upgrading anymore.

The flowbacks don't count. They are not Eagle hires and will be going back to AA one day. I have a friend there who is a summer of 2001 hire and is still waiting for upgrade. And the junior CA award on the their recently closed vacancy bid was a June 2001 hire still 30 numbers senior to any flowback. Thus no flowback has upgraded yet.

Plus, these newly awarded CA vacancies won't begin training for months. There will not be any 2004 hires upgrading at Eagle for years possibly. Remember, the only reason there is even a glimmer of movement at eagle is due to the delivery of 22 CRJ's. Maybe 1 or 2 more vacancy bids will be put out and all the movement that is due to those deliveries will be done. Then it will be business as usual at Eagle. No deliveries, no movement, thus no future and an everlasting 10 year upgrade! By claiming otherwise, may end up disappointing folks. New hires, think wisely before you go to Eagle. The question you need to ask yourself is this.....are you willing to work your career away for 10 years in the right seat and then upgrading at around 40 years old, and then by the time you get the PIC needed to be competitive for a job at a major, you are well into your 40's. Which will most likely make you a career regional pilot. Which means 4-5 leg days 16 days a month in an RJ. I cringe at the thought. Regional schedules are not intended for old men. You'll be dead by 70 years of age. Pretty bad considering life expectancy is 80.

So,to sum it up:

Eagle F/O's at 30K after 10 years=good
RAH F/O's at 30K after year 4= bad

What the heck are you talking about? I truly have no idea what you are trying to say. My post was in reference to another post that led me to believe he thought 10 year upgrades were reasonable at a regional. 10 year upgrades all but assure most guys will be career regional pilots. They are just too old to start over at a major in their 40's. That is if they can even get the few precious jobs that open up at the majors.

Where you come up with Eagle FO's at 30K after 10 years=good and RAH FO's at 30K after 4 years=bad, I have no idea. Besides, most junior RAH CA's are 2.5 year upgrades so the only 4 year FO's at RAH are FO's by choice.

Dude you are a tool. You're right, numbnuts...a flowback didn't upgrade on the most recent bid. He upgraded on the one from last month. Wow you are stupid.

You are one of the stupidest posters on this site. You paint everybody with a broad brush, and yet you have no idea what kind of people work at RAH. There are those who fall into the 10% category but most are very professional and accomplished pilots. I am an F/O at RAH, but I can guarantee that my mommy and daddy didn't pay for my tickets and I have worked my way up to my position the old fashioned way. You should really take a step back and look within yourself to find the root of your anger, then deal with it with maturity.

+2

I just hope, however it goes, I get to fly with TM, the National Guard flying, fire fighting, kitty in a tree saving wonder FO :) Oh, but Eagle is free of the 10% dbag rule.

I believe the junior RAH CA is an 11 or 12/2006 hire sitting RSV on a 135 in GRR.

I happen to be a 3.5 year FO and it's not by choice. There are many more like me, even some with a good bit more seniority. As we are not taking deliveries of any growth airplanes, it's safe to assume that there will be many 4+ year FO's at RAH.

Now look at the fact that our mgmt decided to purchase 3 airlines but get rid of airplanes at 2 of them. That means we are integrating hundreds of pilots that have no seat to sit in (through no fault of their own) and I'm guessing they won't be junior to many, if any, of the current RAH FO's. That means that upgrade times just went from "regional" to "national." So when we start upgrading for attrition (no growth), it will be a very slow progression to the left seat. That complicates things for those of us who just wanted to get in, get our magical 121 turbine PIC and get out.

In contemplating your response remember the above is not "whining," it's a statement of fact. The situation at RAH has changed dramatically in the past as 18 months but that's the way it is. Also keep in mind that every RAH pilot on property came here before any of this current nonsense with F9, Lynx and YX. We came here b/c it was a regional that was hiring that had bases in places people wanted to live and it seemed like a palatable place to hang one's hat for 5-6 years before moving on to bigger and better jobs.

After the Midwest debacle, I think I have a pretty good idea actually. People that will slit another guys throat for a buck and change!

Worked your way UP to your position? You said you were an FO at RAH. A regional FO is the bottom rung of the airline pilot career ladder. What on earth have you worked yourself UP from? Not knocking the position of regional FO but gee wiz, it doesn't get any lower than that in the airline industry. Gate agents, rampers, fuelers, etc. etc. all get paid better than regional FO's. It's pretty clear the pukes in management consider the position of regional FO the bottom of the bottom of the barrel.

You should really take a step back and look within yourself to find the root of your anger, then deal with it with maturity.

Well I'm not out slitting throats am I? I'm posting on a silly message board. Seems to me I have chosen the more mature outlet for my rage.

YGBFKM! 2 guys, 1 an ORD CRJ700 FO and the other a DFW CRJ700 FO that lost their minds and took prop jobs in San Juan? In my book, thats a downgrade sport! Next!!!

Whatever did happen to the ALPO wonderkid?

Is he out doing touch and goes in the space shuttle?

Is he in school for the F-15?

Is he repelling down the Empire State building looking for violators in no smoking areas?

Is he giving an interview to Jan from ALPO in his mother's basement?

Do tell!
