Republic Hiring

I just noticed on APC that Republic is planning on hiring 1000 pilots through 2008. Whats the reason for all the hiring? Are they getting alot more flying? I thought they were loosing some of the CAL stuff.

Also with all that growth, what is the upgrade time projected to be??

Just got 2 more codeshares this year with Frontier using EMB-170's and Continental using CRJ-200's. Combined between growth and pilots leaving for the Majors is why we need that many pilots. Upgrade is running currently around 2 - 2.5 years.

Expect it to slow down however. Once the lot is full they won't have to look near as much. I believe this year they've already hired over 300 out of the 1000.

Don't forget CHQ is losing 15 ERJ135s on the Delta side in late 2008.

No, CHQ side of things is scoped to 50 seats or less...Any 170's would be brought in for growth I would believe..

only replacements are for us air....175's coming in and 145 leaving for continental...other than that nothing is going away until sept 08 when 15 135's go somewhere (don't know where)

I also believe that they are losing only two per month for about 8 months, starting sept 08. Guaranteed that they will find uses for them.

Was told by someone in mangement that they are thinking about using 135s for mainly charters and/or seasonal operations. Direct flight from maintence bases to FL. Just what I heard!
