They can fly them for us at alaska airlines. Our smallest airplane will be the 737-800. We currently have no restriction on size or quantity of contracted flying or code share. Scope is not a priority in our current negotiations.

Y'all, seriously should consider making ironclad scope a top priority. A Republic airplane with an Eskimo on the tail would be bad news for everyone at Alaksa.

I opened my eyes, and I saw $18.5/month base pay for a -190 capt, with company paid upgrade to -320 captain after one year. I also saw $15/month base for -145/-170/-175 captains, again with company paid upgrade to -320 captain after one year. -320 Capts at $20K/month base pay.

I also saw an ATP required for every -121 FO...and then I saw the new Flight/Duty/Rest rules for -121 passenger flying...and then saw all of the retirements coming, with a much reduced military supply of pilots combined with ever-decreasing numbers of U.S. domestic student pilots over the last 10+ years.

Cliff, they're not replacing those retirees one-for-one, it looks more like three-for-one at best. As for those pay rates, is there a reason why you decided to omit the part that they're in China?

All 3 legacies will be retiring tons, with some years at DL losing 800 plus in one year. That means unbelievable upward movement. UA and AA have even more leaving. FedEx and UPS probably have a bunch too.

China will need thousands of pilots per year. The problem currently isn't the money, but the lack of expats in groups, to make it easier for families to adjust. If they group the expat pilots and families together with others they have things in common with, it might make it easier on them. I believe airlines like Emirates have social events for expats and their families in base to help them assimilate better and be more comfortable. Maybe the Chinese airlines will start doing more of that.
