It is still amazing to me that SWA was seen as the bad guy in the two bidders. All I can do now is bite my tongue and shake my head. Just wait tell they start dropping the airbii, can't wait for the bewilderment then.

The young SWA FO entitlement amazed me for a while, but now I am pretty much used to it. Is there any chance I was on your jumpseat last week?

You said, "frontier? did you guys recall your senior union leadership yet?"

(I needed a ride so I smiled while thinking "you are a total facking idiot")

I said, "no, in fact we are very happy with FAPA".

You didn't know what to say so you just countered with, and I am not making this up, "well how much did you make in 2009, 'cause I made 146,000".

At this point your Capt turned to you, and then to me, and just shook his head.

You may have the luv, but somewhere along the line you definitely lost the class.

"Stay seated" as always comes through as the pundit for FAPA. As your company is slowly dismantled, just keep distracting yourself with the negative SWA diatribe.

Lol, the majority of Page 2 of this "Republic" thread was a SWA circlejerk, who's preoccupied?

To DAL/NWA guys: Thank you for providing a relatively non-acrimonious example to follow, and demonstrating a measure of mutual respect.

DAL/NWA = MERGER

Had it happened:

WN/F9 = One company purchasing another OUT OF BANKRUPTCY.

On my last 3 day I had a F9 f/o on the jumpseat and the following day a CHQ f/o on the jumpseat. What a difference one man's perspective makes. The CHQ guy said he and his peers will "burn the place down" if ONE F9 guy is placed ahead of ONE Repub/CHQ/Shuttle America pilot. And the F9 guy said "we are not planning on losing ANY seniority positions". Good luck with that SLI.

Oh and classy move Bedford with the whole "pay standardization" deal across the board. Those F9 people on the ground in DEN really appreciate it. But hey, on the bright side, at least you avoided being PURCHASED by mean ol' SWA.

StaySeated,

When you first presented the "facts" according to FAPA I was willing to give you your space and hope that SWAPA just believed their "facts" as much as FAPA. Personally, I could care less about how the BK deal played out and I hope the best for you guys. What I don't understand is why you didn't tell the rude SWA FO your opinion on his remarks and let it rest. I can honestly say that I wouldn't blame you and would feel bad that you were put in the position to jeopordize your jumpseat ride. So why would you take it to the forum and make a blanket statement about over 3,000 pilots that you've never met? To me it puts some serious cracks in the foundation you've built.

I still hope the best for you guys and gals, but I can honestly say that "entitlement" is an easy word to throw around and not back up. Whatever great life I have is gone in an instant without this career and right now I'm not even sure McDonald's is hiring.

So you're saying it would have gone similar to AA/TWA or AWA/AAA, One company purchasing another OUT OF BANKRUPTCY? Sheesh, I'll take my chances with the Reverend. Thanks though.

Vance, my entitlement comment was in response to the steady stream of apparent swa pilots that chime in on posts that have nothing to do with Southwest. There are numerous yx/rjet or f9/yx or f9/rjet threads that contain what has become the obligatory SWA snide comment. Take this thread for example, nothing to do with Southwest but nearly half of the posts have been made by SWA pilots. Granted only a few are of the a-hole variety but they are viturally omnipresent if F9 is mentioned.

The definition of entitlement is "the belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges". I don't feel I have to back up my use of the word when the repeated posts speak for themselves. The gent that whipped out his W2 to wave in my face was just the icing on the cake.

I do realize that we are probably speaking of a very small minority of tools and everyone I know personally at Southwest is great, but the obsession of lil' ole F9 by some is rather amazing.

Unfortunately, the hammer will slam down on us all in a few short months and those that glean any sort of joy from the suffering of others will have a field day.

I am one of those hoping that Bedford tires of his experiment and sells the entire branded operation. The fee for departure concept is fading fast and if he sells us he can walk away with more money than 10 years of branded profit margins could generate. Incredibly unlikely, but one can always hope.

To me, the biggest issue is Sean Menke leaving. He is the best airline executive at Republic right now, but his leaving opens up some questions. He did an amazing job turning the airline around during very difficult times. He brought the moral up even with pay cuts, kept it a Denver centric airline, and produced 8 or 9 months of operating profits. But him leaving suggests that he is no longer calling the shots and he is not happy with the direction Republic is headed. Lowering front line employee pay = lower moral. Shifting jobs from Denver = loss of Hometown airline. I wish all F9 pilots well but I see a C-series jet order as a whipsaw ala Midwest. How that as well as SLI is handled will determine the long term sucess of your career, and Menke leaving does not seem to bode well.

I don't think anyone is happy with SM leaving, but after the acquisition he was named CMO of RJET. CMO's don't call the shot's operationally. SM is not a CMO at heart so I think that was really the nail in the coffin.
