trainer8 said:$22.06/hr x 75 hour gaurantee = $19,854 first year income. (1990 commuter airline wages by the way) This after $20,000 of formal flight training...to be able to fly a 25 million dollar aircraft, have co-responsibility of the lives of 70-72 passengers, co-manage an in-flight team, navigate the US Airspace System, and the "prestige" of being an jet airline pilot at 23 at 1200 hours of TT/200 MEL.
One perspective I heard recently was that this (RAH) was the best paying job they ever had. Yeah, I suppose so, at 23. Five years ago it was $36.00/hr to start on an aircraft of this type, and it doubled after the first year with 6% increase over the life of the contract.
The bottom has yet to be reached.
