Is it considered 'padding' to log repos? The engines are running and the Hobbs spinning but are you really taxiing for flight? I've had some captains tell me it's okay and others say the opposite. I realize it's not much but over time it does add up.

Since you will not be flying before the engines are shut down, do not log it. Repositioning does not carry an intention to fly.

You are not taxiing for flight, you are taxiing for moving the aircraft from one point in the airport to another. When you block out from the gate to the runway to depart then yes you can log it.

Example:

Nasty day and you are number 45 for takeoff? Yes you log.

Taxiing from one area to another at the airport? No because you have not blocked out from the gate or hangar to initiate a flight.

That is very common where I work and I do not log it for time building purposes nor encourage anyone to do so.

The flight controls are useless on the ground so what is there to manipulate? Power and brake and steering time? Ahh no. I only log it for pay purposes on a separate form entirely. Besides an FO is not even required to reposition an aircraft on the ground (1900).

Hope that helps.

Two Words....he!! no.

If you don't leave the ground, don't log it.

I worked at the same place B190 does and if I logged repos I'd have an extra 50 hours or so in the 1900, I hate repos..... :D ;)

My repo was for contract fuel at PTK, all the way down at the east end. Big price difference from Pentastar. :)
