Thats absolutely correct. Martin Aviation at KSNA did allow people to put their planes on their cert for a fee. I don't know all the details of it, but I've heard that before from other people on the field while discussing the other Part 135 ops that are on the field now.

Pseudoname,

I am flattered by your insight "a professional pilot with thousands of hours and numerous type ratings" and greatful for your concern for my well being "have no clue about your profession?". However, long before you were a twinkle in your daddy's eye I was involved with an operation that "rented" a charter certificate - Martin Aviation out of KSNA (I know that the term "rented" is hard for some to swallow, but when you don't "own" it but just "use" it call it what you may.) It has been a long time since then and I was just curious to get some feedback from this forum.

To 400A and the others, thank you for your insight. I greatly appreciate your time and effort with the replies.

I manage two aircraft for private individuals (citation and king air) and would like to offset some of thier cost by putting the aircraft on 135 charter certificates. I have heard Raytheon Aircraft Charter "rents" thier certificate. Anyone have information on Raytheon or any others?

Thank you for your time.
Rent a certificate.........LOL...
Your a "Line Captain".......LOL...

You just proved my point. It doesn't matter what you could have done many moons ago, if you are truly a professional in aviation and an effective "manager" of corporate aircraft you would NOT need to be updated on changes in Part 135 operating certificates over the last 30-40 years.

Just curious, are you flying that Citation from Point A to B using radio beacons? Did you know that there is such thing as GPS navigation?

PseudoName,

You sure seem to throw that word "professional" around alot. I gather from your profile, with ALL the type ratings, that you have "been around the block/paid your dues" and are quite the consumate professional aviator. It's unfortunate how ego's are developed in aviation at such a young, inexperienced age; especially pilots. Ah yes, I remember the days, full of pi$$ and vinegar and too proud to know it. One day (hopefully many moons from now) you will be in a position to bestow upon a young aviator great words and wisdom; and not be a "prick" about it.

CRJ Driver,

What? Oh ya, the username. Now I understand.

Ok??.

Should this be viewed as "abnormal"?. I think not, many many airplanes are on charter certificates where as the same practice takes place. They simply pay a monthly fee to the certificate holder every month. This practice has been going on for years and will continue to go on, nothing "special" or out of the ordinary with regards to putting airplanes on another certificate.

I think you replied to the wrong person b/c I'm in agreement that it can be done, but I thought about what the original poster is tryng to do when I bought my plane. Try to cut costs by putting it online with a Part 135 outfit.

We're putting our westwind on a charter certificate, leasing the certificate i guess you could say. total cost is somewheres around $2000 a month and 5%. We're maintaining operational control of the aircraft as well, our own crew(s) etc. We are doing all of the 135 indoc. training, TSA/FBI background checks etc... but we're pretty much gonna be left to our own to regulate ourselves within the confines of the P135 certificate.
